What about steel drums on your next Summer track? well, this is exactly what Spitfire Audio seems to have in mind with the new Steel Drums library.
According to Spitfire, the steel drums in this library are deep sampled, with pristine management of the harmonic language of the drums to give a versatile and really touching tone at the softer levels, almost so they're not immediately recognisable as steel pans.
It features two different interfaces, the standard "multi mic" designed for those familiar with the developer's orchestral range, with front-end instant tweaking of articulations and microphones being used. The steel drums were also loaded into Spitfire's particularly tweakable eDNA engine, with dozens 'spring out of the box' presets designed by the brand's team of composers, producers and sound designers.
Steel Drums' MSRP is £99 (approximatively $149/€139) for a total 9280 samples requiring 7.4GB disk space (but 14.8 GB required during installation). It requires the full version of Kontakt.
