Wavesfactory has released Newmello II, the second volume in their mellotron emulation series for Kontakt, which features 25 new instruments.

Newmello II is a sample library for Kontakt 4.2.4 (full version) and above that features 25 instruments/patches recorded into 2 cassette tapes inspired by the famous Mellotron M400, the first form of sampling that shaped the 60s and 70s. It’s also the second volume in the Newmello Collection.

The original Mellotron had some limitations that (according to Wavesfactory) were both embraced and expanded using an advanced script that involves noise control, +/- octaver, mixable tapes, envelope, tone, round robin, dynamic range, load/purge, looping and sample offset.

Sounds are described as lo-fi, vintage and retro with lots of character and full of nostalgia, providing an advanced shape and form version of the classic mellotron sound.

The library features 44.1KHz/24-bit NCW files for an original total 1.5GB of data reduced to 900MB. Instrument list includes:

  • Clarinet 01
  • Clarinet 02
  • Bass Clarinet
