Native Instruments Kore 2Published on 09/14/11 at 21:24
Native Instruments Kore 2 is a high quality sound pack and has a bunch of great presets that can go into your mixes right away. You wont even need to do too much eq to the sounds because they are done by pros that make sure they are ready to go right out of the gate. However there are a few bugs that can give you some crashes when running in Fl Studio and a few other digital audio workstations.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Native Instruments Kore 2 worked great on my quad core windows pc. It did eat up a lot of cpu though, but once I downloaded the new ASIO drivers that fixed most of that problem up right away. Native Instruments Kore 2 delivers a great product and even better customer support. You never have to worry about if you lose your boxed version because you can get everything online from the website once you create an account and enter all of the info on your boxed version which you will need to do as soon as you receive your package.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall you couldn’t ask for much more from Native Instruments with the Kore 2. It has everything you need to create with and it runs in almost all software programs that we all use in today’s music world. The price is kind of high, but if you shop around for a while online you will come across a pretty good deal somewhere and get it at a steal. A lot of people are selling these online and I don’t know why, it could be because they don’t want to take the time to learn and understand how to fully get al of the possibilities out of this package. Since I first bought the Native Instruments Kore 2, I have made some changes and upgraded, but still use a lot of the original presets from the Kore 2 pack.

Installation: Disk 2.1 + update 2.1.4 Easy
no problems Important 2.1.4 provides a facility
choose whether you want to keep the "kore engines" or use
Recent plugs NI: absynth, reaktor, massive, FM8 (see the NI website)
No incompatibility except perhaps a few plugs
simple configuration
I would have liked more examples of "workaround" for more configs and possible uses than it seems.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Running? Nothing to say
Very stable
Performance? Nickel if not ..... one heart processor used so a kore instance is limited so you have multiple instances for large projects in a DAW or live more dedicated software.
I use Stagelight BloXpander and touch-screen to try to keep the "workflow" intuitive and not making head as standard DAW tend to kill the enthusiasm that we can have with the kore

OVERALL OPINION

I use since 2010 with the kore 1 hardware (I never used the software kore 1 bought in 2006!) I crossgrade to komplete 7
for the 250th + mouth + razor and excellent deep freq and NI offered 3 sound packs and gratis since I had other cool stuff. it is enough if one assumes that the presets are bases for other sounds
I had maschine 1.5 at the same time as the update kore 2
What I do not like in Kore 2? There are more dévelloppement over in komplete ksd (except the kore forum which still exists) and the last of plugs and dynamic effects of SELF OR MALFUNCTION seem to manage presets: (
What I like: architecture, mappings of params saved WITH sound (a revolution compared to any other midi controller!) Morph
(Assign a different setting LFO speed for example on 8 morph positions
and you can play with 8 buttons to move selected LFO speeds) + classic morph parameters of different plugins! ..
save several plugs as a single sound or save the entire kore as a single sound! The audio and midi routing, the live aspect, the effects (not all) midi modules .............
I have enjoyed the sidechain (multiple entries of a managed plugin), new modules, using multiple controllers kore with a focus on different colored modules for each controller, multi thread, new modules even see maschine as Module! ... The kore concept deserved a better end. Perhaps one day resurface

The price / quality ratio seems to me right on the basis of available software and
the kore product

I intend to eventually if I have the budget to buy a kore 2 because if it snaps ..... mine is 7 years old already

Easy installation as the configuration.

The manual is complete and needs to be consulted to properly identify the possibilities of the beast.

Overall very stable: 2-3 crashes in a hundred hours of use.

The possibilities of sound design are impressive. Can be stacked instruments and sound effects to get very rich, very full and thick.

The controller hardware is a real joy. The automatic assignment of knobs to various parameters of instruments and effects is done automatically. More config midi learn mode automatically sets all.

The possibilities are impressive sound morphing. There is too much material to make live sound.

With experience, I would do this choice.
