Active subwoofer designed for use with speakers including local 1029.

SOUNDS

The bandwidth is roughly 20 to 80 Hz is therefore below the low in question here. This is normal, small GENELEC 1029 which is designed this well stopped short at 70 Hz

Once the system is installed with the 1029, I wondered how I could do without the box for so many years. While it is possible to mix with the 1029 without the box (I made several albums like that), but avoiding to touch absolutely everything that was going on below the fateful 70 Hz, as attention to surprises in!

So, I got very homogeneous mixes, but not very generous at the bottom, requires caution.

With the housing 7050 is much better, you can work in the lower remaining aware of what we do, which is especially important that these frequencies are critical to the overall sound (the 'envelope ") of an album.

Be careful though, this "more" in the bass must be balanced precisely with local speakers, this is not to be mistaken for a DJ with cabbage ears. The box should be set to just make this little "belly" at the bottom which is essential to properly adjust a drum (for an example), then: not too strong.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, this is an excellent complement to small GENELEC.

I would put all the same two flaws:

First, the price is prohibitive. For my part, I bought used (but nine in fact) with AF at a price that I consider correct (E 500).

Then I find that the power is unbalanced (ie insufficient) compared to that of local speakers. Clearly, I must limit the volume of incredibly small speakers, and push the box at the bottom to have a coherent balance between the sub and speakers say, then increase the output level of the table accordingly.

On arrival, the overall sound is very good, but with this rebalancing. On the other hand, it avoids ending up with a configuration where the sub would be too strong compared to the speakers (see review above).
