UTILIZATION

Extremely simple for those who can use a console.

"Read the fucking manual" here is mandatory, because this very friendly advice will allow you to really make the most of your CR-1604. If you do not, you probably will not find out the many routing options provided by the console!

The knobs are sturdy enough, judging from their long life despite little or no care in handling.

The trick of the Mute / Alt 3-4 is a joy to use. A track when muted is automatically assigned to buses 3 and 4. Example: you can plug these buses into a compressor whose output can be routed back to two console strips.

SOUNDS

The CR-1604 is fast becoming legendary and it is not for nothing .... The legends says that even the first 2 albums were mixes of Daft on one CR-1604 and 1202 (sister of the range).
The strengths of the console are: pramplis, dynamics, the low EQ which allows for the low hum and low-mdiums.

We like it or not: his characters a little "roots" that can do the rhythmic DBOT.

OVERALL OPINION

The Cr-1604 is one of the few real mixing consoles mix that can be found at this price.

Excellent dynamic range - nothing like the current VLZ MODELS.

We love to use it with a small compressor (kind of an Alesis - which doesn't really look that great) that we put in out of Bus3 / 4 and that is re-injected into the console to enjoy a post-compressor Eq on the bass ..... hehe!
You mix all digital?? Boooo! That isn't pretty ... you like analog? really take a look at this console. Second hand price is not excessive, just check everything is functioning
properly
on all strips (trims, faders ...).
If you are already a happy owner, take care of it... if you do not do it for you, do it for the future generations FYI I know that there is an official service center for those old models in the Paris suburbs.
