SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Light drinking on a Core2Duo E4600 with 2GB of RAM

OVERALL OPINION

I had not found the EQ exceptional, but the compressor is another story.

I agree with previous opinions, in the sense that it can be absolutely transparent and work without being heard.

a little comparison with other plugins:
Blockfish: Freeware less flexible, less transparent than the GCO-1, but with more character, more "dirty". I prefer to GCO-1

Voxengo Crunchessor2: that it has more punch and character to a battery or a bass, but the GCO-1 is more flexible and transparent.ce are complementary rather than competitive compressors

Voxengo Marquis: these two compressors rather close in their sound quality, various options paramètrage.Ils are both very flexible and I see no better than the other to compress.
The GCO-1 has the advantage of working more as expander.
at the time, I was captivated by the qualities of the Marquis (in addition to the attractive price).
these are two good choices of native polyvvalents compressors.
I still have a little comparison to the level of the processor.

UAD Precision Bus Compressor excellent, also transparent, with less adjustment. they are two different approaches: the GCO-1 is more complex to use, but offers a broader sonic palette. the accuracy is more simple: the test on the source, it checks out, we keep, it does not stick, one is used autre.les two can make deep cuts without any saturation of unpleasant.

The GCO-1 compressor is a great Swiss Army knife that made me a very good impression with its sound quality and versatility.
there are also other provisions in Kjaerhus compressor with fewer adjustments of all kinds, but are also very useful when one wants to work quickly without leaving sound quality on the bench.
