Phonic Corporation recently released a major upgrade for its new S16 Digital Mixer, which will be on display at this year's NAMM show.

While this firmware upgrade features performance enhancements for the reverb effects and dynamic processors, it also provides a couple of new features detailed below. Both the link function and delay function have significant upgrades in both features and functionality.

Phonic’s S16 Digital Mixer now features a “panning link” function in the pair/link menu. This enables users to select individual, gang and inverse gang panning modes. Individual allows users to adjust panning independently – even when channels are paired. Gang allows users to adjust two paired channels in unison. Inverse gang allows users to control two paired channels in unison – but moving in opposite directions (great for stereo signals!).

The new delay “Scale/Temp.” tab now features a mode that allows you to switch the adjustable delay parameter between time (milliseconds) and distance (in either meters or feet). To make the distance setting more accurate, users are able to adjust the current room temperature to better calculate the delay time required.

The firmware update also features tweaks on the dynamics, effects (reverbs in particular), EQ and channel AUX sends. Further details can be found in the release notes that accompany the firmware update file.
