    Yamaha 01VPublished on 05/22/12 at 11:36
The Yamaha 01V is a digital mixing console that can do a lot for you right at your finger tips. Even though its no longer produced and has been replaced with the 01V96i version from Yamaha. There are still some in the used sections at music stores which could be a big break for you because the price will be way cheaper then what it was when it first came out. With 24 channel stereo and 24 bit digital recording you cant go wrong with the o1V. If its not about the money then sure go ahead and get the newer model Yamaha o1V96i and have the newest version.

    UTILIZATION

The EQ in the 01v is very good and has worked great for me. You really have full control of the overall sound with the EQ on it. You can really get the best out of your music on the Yamaha o1V just from the EQ options alone. All of the eq seems to be distortion free as well.

    SOUNDS

Sounds are great, effects are strong and don’t get distorted either. Love using this unit for a live setting. It provides me with all the tools that I need no matter what situation I am in. Im thankful that I got this at a good price and actually found this model. But the newer one Is so much more expensive that this one is.

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, great mixing console all I can really say is beware because after using for a while it seems to get really warm and I don’t think it has any type of built in fan at least from what I can tell so I keep a fan on it if its going to be on for a long period of time. Cant afford for anything to get fried. So you will have to make sure it doesn’t over heat on you, it may never over heat but that’s a risk im not willing to take with a piece of gear that I use often.

    Yamaha 01V Digital Mixer

    Yamaha 01VPublished on 06/28/01 at 15:00
I paid about $1600 for this unit at a local Guitar Center store. I needed to move my home studio to more tracks and get something I could also use for live gigs.

I was very happy with the 01V until I outgrew it's track capacity and had to move up to an 02R. I still like some things about the 01V better. The effects are better sounding than my more recently acquired and much more expensive 02Rv2. The fader automation is handy for switching between projects. I had no trouble adapting to the control surface. There is about the right balance of individual channel controls vs. shared controls that act on the currently selected channel.

The 01V T-DIF cards for connecting to Tascam digital tape units (DA-38's in my case) don't handle word clock sync and the separate word clock output doesn't help any. I ended up going ADAT connectors to my MOTU and TDIF from there to the DA-38's. It was a bit hard to find a case for but I did find a semi-rigid well padded case (nightmarish ordering process - I don't recommend ordering custom cases or anything else that isn't in stock in store from Guitar Center).

Yamaha has timing down much better on the ADAT interfaces.Very solid. My initial concerns about taking it on the road to small gigs have been resolved as it is standing up very well.

Well I'd been out of mainstream audio for about 15 years. Compared to what $1600 got you when I was last active to what I got for my money with this purchase I was amazed! And it hasn't stopped there. The new AW-4416 is what I think the Roland VS-880 family should've been.If you're sure that 16 channels is enough for a while buy this unit or look at the 4416. I liked the unit so much that I almost bought a second one and chained them together when I needed to expand.

    UTILIZATION

Simple configuration, easy to use. The manual is clear and sufficient. I find this console very easy to use despite many opportunities in the studio or live. All functions are easily accessible.

    SOUNDS

Very good sound. Effects, dynamic processors available effective on all channels and mix. Good momentum at the time. Now the 24 bits is required. See 01V96.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 12 years without reliability problems. I added a map to get four additional outputs for a total of 8 outputs for saving me a battery. I've used other consoles but analog. Nothing to see, the possibilities are multiplied in digital. I used the RAMSA WR-T820 which is very comprehensive but very heavy. A carry at least 2.
    - What I love most:
I love just about everything (I love that console). The ease of use.
The ability to add a card (ADAT, 4 outputs, ...) I appreciate the digital opportunities. Effects, dynamic processors available for each entry way, the complete equalization on each channel. Can store these propes equalization, dynamics processors, mixes ... The weight (12.5 kg) portable for live (rackmount). The versatile studio / live.
The accuracy of digital (saving settings). Automation. MIDI. We can control the console from a computer (fader, pan, ...) The digital output. These capabilities into a small space (rack).
I forget certainly other things I like.
    - What I like least:
There is a dust problem that goes behind the screen (see screen cleaning tutorial), despite the great care that I bring. No one to insert the two integrated multi-effects are not enough.
You understood that this choice I would do without thinking. Very good material. To be replaced by 01V96 today. A buying opportunity now to live for these numerous possibilities, required for groups.

    OVERALL OPINION

I used two, sometimes link together for seven years. The 01v silent the best quality price numrique.
I tried mackie, today I have a live studio prsonus 24. I will not speak of the "larger" essay because numrique see anything ...
I think I buy a 01V96V2 for small benefits and live thatre.
I like the least and the navigation a bit cold in ct pramp.
Excellent price quality ratio, I possd four in all. Never fault or bug. these preparations in loc, and I shot a lot of concerts. Yam Costaud anyway.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 10-12 years.
Before I had a console not numrique, c't bcp more complicated to "keep" his rglages. OCCAZ now is a good deal, the rest of the hardware was "semi-pro".
I would do my choice of the era without hsitation.
Today I do not know if I bought a console (which I am not planning for it agree!) I would look at the newer version.

if not, there are 4 to which s'avre trs quickly indispensable.

    UTILIZATION

The typical use is very easy and getting started is fast (for designers to console numrique).
I used both in the studio and concert sound small.
In the first case, it can quickly problmatique s'avrer trs:
    - Dj must be added ADAT IO option can be used in a normal studio numrique (eg with a pro tools with an ADAT bridge).
    - More when the branch with the pro tools and a DAT magnto numrique .... we must constantly juggle the external sync .... IO Option ... Syncro and internal c ... is even more difficult when you want to work in 48 .. kHz (48kHz not internally!)
    - And the lack of large and beautiful VU meters lack the readability ...

In the case deuxime is more interesting:
    - The effects and dynamics processing in-house are more than enough for the cafés-concert.
    - The changeover is quick DIFFERENT menus (APRS uses qq).
But, the notch s'avre soon too small, and therefore should not be too shortsighted!

    SOUNDS

The pramplificateurs are good quality, and the converters are pretty good (certainly it is not apogee!).
Are transparent enough ... she did not envy that level but the trs well know to be forgotten at the sound.

    OVERALL OPINION

Console trs well for medium budgets who want to have fun ..
However, the notch, the meters, Option IO, and sync for studio numrique, are not paramtres ngliger for users express.
However, it is trs many small sound systems config.
However, for around 1600, you still have the rflchir useful if you want to do.

It would probably a good control surface? ... (Does it still paramtrer => pm)

Pramp micro probably just for the home studio ... but to live, there are only two 01V at sunset (jazz club). the effects are primarily compressors, one per track. 2 rverb!
    Robust but not subtle ...

    UTILIZATION

The mmorisation a whole bunch of paramtreest handy for live use. And we soon learn to use it. He trusted.

    SOUNDS

    Well said below!

    OVERALL OPINION

Used for 6 months, the benefit for me would be used in ngociant becomes INTERESTED

I do not vasi rpter the nime CHARACTERISTICS for both but only give our opinion based on the use made of it:
we have 2 synths / samplers (4 mono outputs each) a groove box, an electric guitar and keyboard connected to it.
is looking for a digital console with memory of scnbe, corretcs preamps, rack, and some internal effects processing dynamqiues.
    Above all the good ...

    UTILIZATION

Trs easy to use, to nitpick I would say it is a pity we can scan the menu tabs in one direction, but hey, it's really giving grain to the hens!

Functions are fast globalemnt ACCS, the home edition, although the screen is quite small enough for the machine functions, and automatic display mode is said paramtre very practical.
the manual is very well done for what I have to read, but we did not really need to be a little bit familiar with the consoles.

    SOUNDS

Much has been said about the sound of this console, that silent cold, its effects taient dishes ...
I will not judge or compare, but for the material with which it is used, it is fine. So a good 10.
That said it does not use microphones or acoustic instruments, so nuanced ...

    OVERALL OPINION

For a month, and it seems dj to have had all his life.

For technical specifications, I will not metals above, you can find more prcis and comprehensive on the web.

The only point I would like to emphasize is that we can increase the number of inputs / outputs with option boards (adat etc ...)

Small point ngatif, we can not add one.
But the number of slot is deliberately restricted so as not concurencer other products in the range.
The other ngatif is the lack of integration on the way (too bad).

    UTILIZATION

On this point proves to 01v very easy life.
It's true that when one comes from analog, the lack of knobs and direct ACCS may be some paramtres Drout, but After a few hours of use the b you really becomes docile ...

On this point proves to 01v very easy life.
It's true that when one comes from analog, the lack of knobs and direct ACCS may be some paramtres Drout, but After a few hours of use the b you really becomes docile ...
The user guide (included in 4 languages (which is rare enough to be emphasis added)) is clear and prcis.
The number of outputs is sufficient for the home studio, especially if like me you couple with an 8-track recorder numriques via the adat expansion slot (it will give you extra 8 tracks FINANCIAL STATEMENTS for the mix (24 total))

    SOUNDS

Like any good converter numrique SETTING THE gain is paramount and will never be as flexible as the analog. (Gain = too low blows, gain too levsaturation very dsagable)

It sr, converters are not signed Apogee (and any good fawn trs converstisseurs a price ...), but they are quite transparent (well, my humble opinion that the Beringher ..) and especially quiet.
Besides, if having had both machines in the hands I will bring the wrath by doing a little comparison (as both target the same audience and same budget)

The faders of the 01 are only 60mm of travel is that it is true are noisy with automation.
Compared to the 10mm of the B. .. r is less comfortable.

But for the rest of Yam seems to me much better weapon:

    - The pramp have a reserve of 10 to gain enough imprssionante-34dB, if we add it to a pad attenuation of 26 dB, dynamic range is covered trs tense.

    - The four bands are equalos Fully parametric (frquence, filter width and gain) and they are REALLY effective (provided we know the utiliss)

The sound-General for the table is ASEZ enjoyable and not as "hard and aggressive" than the B.. R.

In addition the beast has 6 to dparts (2 for the internal effects, 4 Omni outputs on)

LIBRARY The effect is fairly well supplied, (gate, compressor, limiter, expander) and effective

The built-in effects and music are rellements and DSP algorithms are those of the rev500 and the pro R3: a REFERENCE! (Effects alone (the era corresponded almost costs the table).

Although these effects can be criticized a lack of heat, but the effects DIGITAL COUNTERS lack it.
And it's true they sound mtallique, but it's mostly a question of dosage: sometimes you s'interoger on the level of reverb return, rather than on its quality itself.

On this point the effects of yam are (Still my opinion) largely suprieur the B.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this table for 2 or 3 years (when you love it does not count)
And I really wanted to try the Beringher but I is not found the sound quality or power or effects of equalos yahm.
I used this table in diff config ': home studio and live
To live is good, but: do not have a large training, know perfectly and be very vigilant adjustable gains.
Even if this level I prfere the big fat analog.

This set saves you hand it to carry your huge rack with compressors and the whole shebang. "

Home for the studio is really effective and can really rev couraging a job clean and if not your exact l do not always blame the gear.

If you had to mention the many possibilities of using the 01v this could be quite long and boring (for some)

It's the stuff on, reliable, good value qualitprix (I do not mean good trs lest the dealers have the bad stuff ide to increase it.)
