Hi, I use the 2488 for quite some time.

Features:
-24 Tracks, effects, 8 among recording, no compression, equalo okay ...
- But more importantly, the opportunity to work in close and essential (with time) complicit with a pc. Recording on the Tascam 2488 anywhere, reliability hard drive is recognized, aprsrglage on the PC (such as an external hard drive), file processing on the PC, files relating rinjection s, mixing, mastering, engraving ...
And everything in aillant luxury to synchronize the two ...

Weaknesses:
-A Unfortunately crappy catch (dconcertant!), Unclear tiny shit ...
-no motor faders ... At departure it is believed that this is luxury, but with time ... I who had a 4416 from Yamaha (but 16 tracks and no dialogue with a PC)

USE

Easy to use, one press of the button input 1 and the same time we support on a track for the routing, similar to the effects. Design of the logical screen.
The manual is not essential as given the simplicity of the device.

SONORITS

No compression, very good converter.
The effects and qualos are correct, but it comes fast processing on a PC.
Very good momentum, in addition to the final, when burning, this unit adjusts the volume level of each song.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I had a DMT8 (Fostex) VS880 (Rolland), 4416 (Yamaha), now the 2488 (Tascam) and I can say that I feel a great revolution in my purchases.
For me it is the logical purchase for that period.
Now I would like Tascam vraimment that make an effort (for his next model) at the notch. He became, in time, a trsbte and disability.
And of course, the motorized faders would be perfection.
