After a few months, I think it is INTERESTED revisit my view on the AW2816 ...

The aw2816HDCD Yamaha is the small of the AW4416, the main diffrence is located at the surface of CONTRL possde that more than 9 sliders motoriss (8 mono tracks + 1 g nral Stereo), recording eight tracks simultaneously limit (instead of 16), the disappearance of the LED display monitor, the mouse port of amputation, the increase in 20Gb capacity (12Gb cons for 4416), two boosts dsp's (4x more powerful than those of 4416), the internal drive is atapi scsi plutt in a mini-slot instead of YGDAI two ...

Question connectivity, there are 8 input jack scales (two doubles in XLR with switchable phantom power and a double jack unbalanced high impdance), 1 headphone, 1x2 Jack Balance for output monitors, 4 auxiliary outputs (unbalanced), a footswitch connector, between 1 and 1 SPDIF, 1 x scsi, midi in / out / thru connector SERIES / midi (to connect directly SERIES port of a pc), an expansion port mini-YGDAI

The Sampling is done in 16 or 24-bit 44.1 or 48kHz on the 20GB internal hard drive (the external media can be utiliss as for backup)

Registration can be synchronized to the MIDI port (for example with mtc, either master or slave in)

Registration is done on 8 tracks simultaneously, with a total of 16 tracks can be used

UTILIZATION

Gnrale configuration is very simple, just opens the box and plug in the device.
Learning is not very easy, but is far from being insurmountable APRS have assimilated the basic principles, we find ourselves quickly able to use the majority of the functionality of the b you.

Automation is really gniale. The surface of CONTRL can be used to control certain paramtres many synths and squenceurs. It is even possible to couple two AW2816.

Small note: the manual is not A model of simplicity.

SOUNDS

The converters are trs good (ok, this is not the Apogee, but it is far from the dross that can be found on some competing products)

For cons, the pramplis are quite weak people and it is clear that for a good feedback, it is better to go through an external prampli. (Note revised downward because of pramplis)

Question filters, there is an equalizer per track Settings, a dynamic filter (compressor, expander, maximize, compander ,...), a delay and the possibility of adding the effects of insertion (either via the two DSPs internal or external via plug or Y56K expansion card). Routing possibilities are many trs.

OVERALL OPINION

I use the AW2816 for 8 months, I like its simplicity of jobs, the quality of sound, the quality of sync (no cracks in the sound) ... Briefly, the product, sil seems less ambitious than some competitors wonder keeps its promises. The only complaints I have about pramplis and slow work on the CD (the image burn couraging trs is slow, audio extraction is not fast either ). Apart from that, no regrets. Looking back I would do the same choice as this product is really best suited my needs and a report possde qualitprix INTERESTED trs. As expansion card, I recommend the Waves Y56K
