Roland presents the FP-30, a digital piano which aims at offering high-end performance in a compact and transportable design.
Roland announces the FP-30 Digital Piano, described as a compact and affordable instrument. Combining quality sound and feel with Bluetooth wireless connectivity for mobile devices and other innovative features, the FP-30 is aimed at small spaces and very easy to transport in and out of the home, classroom or studio, which should suit piano students, urban dwellers and young families.
Roland’s SuperNATURAL Piano technology is said to deliver an authentic piano sound that provides a solid foundation for learning, as well as the detailed articulation and response to satisfy the most advanced players. Completing the experience is the 88-note PHA-4 Standard keyboard, which inherits the progressive hammer action, escapement and Ivory Feel keys found in Roland’s high-end home pianos.
The FP-30 is equipped with a powerful stereo audio system for a rich sound that exceeds the limited sonic capabilities of other compact digital pianos. Plugging in headphones silences the onboard speakers, allowing users to enjoy playing day or night without disturbing others nearby. Dual headphone outputs enable two people to listen at once, and 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch jacks offer compatibility with all types of headphones and earbuds. The outputs can alternately be used to connect to an external speaker system if desired.
Thanks to its modern digital engine, the FP-30 goes beyond any acoustic piano, offering additional sounds like strings, organs, voices and electric pianos to let users broaden their musical experience, while dual and split functions allow two different sounds to be played at once. Onboard drum patterns enhance the enjoyment of everyday playing and offer an alternative to the metronome while developing timing skills.
The FP-30 features built-in Bluetooth wireless capabilities, enabling users to explore the diverse world of music apps for smartphones and tablets right at the piano. Popular apps like GarageBand and many others can interact directly with the FP-30, creating a platform for learning, composing or even just playing for fun. USB support is also included for playing along with favorite WAV/SMF tunes and sharing performances captured with the FP-30’s onboard SMF recorder.
Available in white or black, the FP-30 has a light and compact design that should fit nicely in smaller living spaces, and the instrument is easy to move when needed. For a more traditional home piano setup, the optional KSC-70 stand and KPD-70 three-pedal unit provide an integrated look and classic pedal configuration while maintaining a much smaller footprint than a typical upright piano. When the KPD-70 is connected, one of its foot pedals can be used for hands-free turning of onscreen music pages while using mobile apps such as piaScore or Sheet Music Direct.
