Well, we'll not do it again, see below ...

UTILIZATION

Watch out: the screen is very readable, small print, low contrast, it would just put the bold, it would have been much better.
The screen tends to lose its brightness, which again strains the eyes. The menus are clear and well organized but to get out or call another page, we must return to the root ... Tedious. This is the app that is in question, said that besides the record, except that at the time, they were proud of this language! He wants "computerizing computer" if I may say so.
The edition, you will understand, is slow and complex. Better to treat each "line" simultaneously with the same page, passing from one to another, as when moving from one operator to another on the DX7. About the FM, forget everything you thought he knew, because if the results are close, how to get there is totally different. Only common, we must work to build on the pitch lines and envelopes.

SOUNDS

The combination keyboard / sensitivity parameters is consistent and optimal. One can quite express themselves with the touch and all the parameters of curves, sensitivity, speed, ratio of length envelopes according to the position of the buttons or by typing. Everything is possible.
The sound is what one actually. It's a real synth and we must start from the perspective "I create a unique instrument with the patch I program." One should always be that way with digital. So is knowing what you want and get there before the repeat, because while, can not quickly correct the details ...
The sound is nevertheless very close to the DX. We manage to "turn" harmonics easily by changing the waveform and choosing algoritmes with ring mod and phasing. This is also one of its strengths: each line of oscillators (4 lines 2 osc) can have its own algoritme, as in the D50, but with more combinations: 4 rows and 3 algoritmes: mix = signals parallel (32 on the DX7 algorithms), ring = ring osc1 modulated by osc2, phase = phasing of osc2 on osc1. With all that, good cutting heights-note-octave envelopes, there is everything you need. Remain ideas, time and attention to detail.
It is imperative from the factory patches and edit them. They give a good indication of what may be the VZ and just waiting to be upgraded / modified.
Plan when even a small multi-effect with the least chorus / reverb together personal, I passed through a Boss ME50 pedal and it does. When I program, however, no effect: if the result begins to be satisfactory in the rough, then we are on track.
It is well for comps, nicks clavis, ethereal pads and the leads pretty sweet. Anyway, what are the uses that I do in my group.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a little less than a year. I had ups and downs, I asked many questions, for nothing ... It is an instrument in itself, it reflects the spirit and concern for quality "Generation DX". It should be taken as such, without having to feel obligated to return it to its context. It performs very well in some very contemporary and does not necessarily give a color eighties, even if able.
If you want one, think first what you want or need to do. He certainly can, but you will take unusual paths, with surprises at every turn!
