This was my first bass, and therefore I knew nothing about basses when I bought it. I got it about 4 years ago at guitar center for $230. Now days you can get it pretty easily for $200. I didn't know what was out there so I chose between a Squire P-Bass and this bass and bought this one because I didn't like the looks of the pickgaurd (not a very good reason).

This bass has both a P and J style pickups, which is good. It also has a really slim neck which is more confortable than the Fender style neck. Lastly it looks better than the Fenders and Squires in my opinion.

There is a lot of string buzzing, which is really annoying. (I'm not talking about buzzing from low action, just buzzing no matter how high the strings are...I think the frets are uneven or something). Also, when I slap I get a very strange sound on the E string as it bends and hits the bottom of the fretboard (it's a little hard to describe, but very annoying). Also, I hate exposed pole pieces because every once in a while you get a weird clicking sound when the strings hit the pickups...I really hate that. I've tried covering them up myself, but it looks really tacky, so I've just given up on this bass.

The plastic nut is fraying which is really bad. Soon I'll replace it with a graphite nut or something. The fingerboard is getting worn, but that's just from excessive playing. As I mentioned before, I think the frets are uneven. The rest of the bass is fairly solid and pretty hard to scratch up.

I'm sorry I bought this bass. I wish I had bought a Squire P or J bass (or a combination). Actually what I would really recommend is a DeArmond Pilot Bass for about the same price. I really like the feel and construction of those basses. Now that I have a 5-string EDB 605 I almost never use this bass except for when I feel like playing a 4 string.
