« Les Paul for half the price and weight ... »

Published on 11/03/14 at 14:37
Custom77 is a French brand based in Lyon seriously beginning to make a name in the music world, not only in the hexagon (Lee Ranaldo, Didier Wampas, and brothers Archimedes group home = P ). The instruments are manufactured in South Korea in order to reduce costs, but the hand of Asian work begins to gain the experience necessary to achieve quality instruments ...

The guitar is made in Korea, but the final adjustments are made before sending in France, in Lyon. A priori no surprises as to the accuracy of the handle for example. The entire body is maple with a curved table to polish a little too 'bright' for my taste, but it's serious. On the other hand, the back has the same table as overweight which makes more enjoyable than conventional LP whose edges sometimes tend to support while playing the game.
A solid bridge tune-o-matic allows you to keep the strings (and a big block of hardwood allows you to keep the tune-o-matic across the table).
After that, nothing very original, but it's a bit why I chose ^^
6 Mechanical oil bath rather reliable as we avoid the bends too many and too supported a handle three pieces of mahogany and rosewood key marked in traditional acrylic trapezoids. The profile of the handle end, Type 60's according to the official site. The frets 22 in number are perfectly placed and filed down, nothing beats is impeccable! Finally, two alnico V Modern 77 connected to their tone knobs and volume ... as it should be.

UTILIZATION

Regarding the finish, everything is great and we have no problem with that.
The handle, unlike the original models of Gibson, is relatively thin and could more readily compare to that of a SG. A real highway for the purpose fingers, I also like to spend your thumb over the handle for the game in agreement and there is a real pleasure! In terms of access to acute, that is another matter but I feel we can go a bit further than a Gibson (but really a bit). For those who do not know, you can easily reach it becomes almost climbing the 20th box although they become very thin at the end, in contrast to the result ^^
Thanks to body measurements, weight is significantly reduced (divided by 2), it seems to support a SG, it makes the game much more bearable standing long term.
The title of my review is this guitar quite well ... for now. Because despite all these similarities must still connect!

SOUNDS

So far I have spoken only of the features inherent to all LB Hollowbody, but when my order I asked them to install a pair of Bare Knuckle The Mule. These microphones handcrafted in England shops, they are expensive (perhaps too) but the sound that comes out on a good guitar is simply phenomenal, yes the microphone is not everything. Besides the acoustic sound power is quite surprising, and may well be used as an acoustic to play alone and dial for example. This is a little more.
Never having had the opportunity to test modern77 I can not therefore give a very interesting opinion regarding the sound. But I can still talk if prospective buyers have the same idea as me ...
Mules are alnico humbuckers IV alloy rare that the two are often preferred for their warmth and 5. With 4 was a more brilliant and slamming her, and I find him very strong resemblance to P90, with a hollow body that is totally usable, but it's not the fat, warm, and endless sustain the legend of Gibson: there is quite another thing ...
This gives a much brighter sound and the holding of the notes is reduced because of the hollow body, but in return the absence of hearing helps to remove the feedback to high doses of saturations, a very good point! The clean sound is beautiful, clear and slamming without being too aggressive and saturations do him no more fear. With a light in a big, hairy overdrive crunch, is ecstasy! Again, the electron configuration is surely something ...

For more details on the Mules in particular, you can look at my review on the site;)

OVERALL OPINION

I use this great instrument for almost six months and it is happiness, both at the beauty of the instrument in that it is able to get out! I love everything that makes up this guitar and despite the fact that I was rather surprised by that clear, but in the end totally fan! The only small problem we might encounter is the reduction of sustain which is a bit surprising when starting a prior on the size Les Paul.
The guitar was the total cost € 675 and all but I think it's well worth, with the experience I would have surely ordered the same in solidbody because these mics on a "real" Les Paul could really give something also interesting.
I had already acquired a Custom77 China Girl Raw Raw Power (clone SG Special with 2 P90) that I loved for its lightness and its gross and I wanted to expand my sound frequencies ^^ I know the quality and serious manufacturing, but now I'm just won and I hope that this company continues its momentum and we can get many other such models =)
