Christmas Present. Bought at Steves Music in Ottawa, Canada. 514.99 plus tax and case came to about 675. Decided on Epiphone cuz gibsons are very expensive, and im only 16.

I Love my les paul. Even though the head is slightly different shaped, and it doesnt say gibson, you can hardly tell the differnce in sound. I had heard many a gibson les paul, and this one is quite up to par. Epiphone sure makes a great les paul. Pick ups scream when you wanna solo, and growl when your playing the blues. I play mainliy blues and blues rock. Stuff like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix. I can get tons of sounds out of it, its perfect!

Slight buzzing on in the saddles of high e and G string, im sure this could be fixed, as i have never had it set up. Other then that i have nothing but love for it.

Extremely solid. Weighs a ton, so you know its good wood. Pick Ups sound jsut like a gibson PAF. frets are low and fast. Neck is amazingly smooth, never played anything liek it.

If you are in love wiht the les paul model, but dont have 2-3 grand to spend, then getting an epiphone will suit you just fine. Very well made, very beautiful guitar. I have a honeburst finish and the flames are huge. Overall an excellent buy.

I got this suberb guitar from a music close to me, i paid £350 for a Heratage Sunburst finish. I got this guitar because you only live once, you may aswell, thats what I thought. And to because I have always like this guitar.

I like this guitar, the sound quality is superb. If you play this though an amp 10 Watt - 20 Watt, then you will get a suberb sound quality.

There is nothing I don't like about this guitar it is just brillian, there is no point in getting a real Gibson Les Paul for over £1000. These are just as good.

The headstock is very nicely shaped, nice machine heads, a lot easier when u break a string, to put another one on, unlike Strats.

The neck is smooth, the fret board is suberb quality. The body is the best bit, with a cool 3 - Way pick-up selector switch on the top of the guitar, its a lot easier to swith to another pick-up, when in a hurry.
The humbucker pick-ups are very good quality, nice sounding, not as good as a real Les Paul, but close enough.

If anyone wants a new guitar get this, there superb, there also good guitars for either rock or blues, mostly a blues guitar.

    I got it for Christmas.

It has an amazing tone. It has also has many sonds and variations. I've played Gibsons and Fenders that are in the price range of the thousands and this guitar plays just the same. You can't tell the difference. There might be a few weight differences but that's it.

    Nothing

Extremely well made. It is made of strong solid wood. It has outstanding humbuckers and a rosewood fingerboard.

Bottomline The best brand there is. Go get one.

I acquired this guitar while testing out models for a chistmas present from my parents. I had it down the wire between the one i have and a factory second. Since this guitar was a special edition and had real gibson pickups, block inlays, and gold hardware, i got it. since its a special edition it cost about 700 dollars, but i turned in a squire strat for 100 off.

I like everything. The wide neck for easier play (in my opinion). the looks are just beautiful, with gold on black and artwork on the back, it is a beautiful guitar. The pickups are howlin, and way better than my previous guitar. I also prefer the les paul guitar in general to most other guitars.

what don't i like? one of the inlays was poorly done, but it is hardly noticable.

This guitar was built very nicely with the exception of the inlay.

So, to summarize, This guitar rocks. I'd take an epiphone over a gibson any day. "why?" says the rich man. "Money" says me.

Bought used from Del Langejans, Holland MI.
I traded my 73 Fender Stratocaster and an EMC mic board for this LP.

    Everything.

Since this guitar has been in my possession for about 25 years now, I do not like the weight as I am older and heavy guitars really wear on one's body when one is gigging.

    It's a Gibson! Rock solid.

The pickups on the 77 LP were dogs. I had to replace them with something else. So, at the time, I bought the first reissue humbuckers from Gibson that Tim Shaw had redesigned. From what I read, they are like the highly desired PAF Hum-B's but the coil wire is an orange color and slightly different in the paint process.

    Les Paul Standard, Tobacco Sunburst
purchased at Alto Music, Suffern NY $812 in 1985.
I needed a guitar with balls (heavy/hard rock) and wanted a reliable brand and Jimmy Page was a factor as well.

Sound, fret-work, seperate volume and tone knobs, no tremolo bar, solid.

Tuners we're a little weak, in fact one broke, since then I replaced it with Grovers.
Over the years I got more picky about my tone so I replaced the pickup with a Dimarzio FRED.

Excellent, solid (even after falling over a couple of times).

Reinforces the notion that you get what you pay for. Best guitar I ever owned. Recommend to anyone looking for humbucker/'fatter' sound.

This guitar is absolutely brilliant.Just to let you know, no one should expect the taste of a wine with the price of a beer! Of course it has adjustments and upgrades needed to be done to it but I can go along with the upgrades with my eyes closed on this guitar, whereas your hands would be tied with a Gibson. For people who say there is no difference between the 2 guitars (Gibson LP and Epiphone LP) that is not right...as Gibson uses AAA wood, better pickups and detailed construction. Of course at least 500-600 dollars go to the brand name which is fairly normal. This guitar has a great tone though. For people who are not too picky on the pickups, the stock pickups are fabulous. The tuning machines need to be changed. I am getting GOTH locking tuners. I am not changing the pickups just now, but in the future, I would probably go for a S. Duncan pickup. Buy a strap lock because the ones on this are in such an angle that the strap could slide off really easily. I went for the Dunlop strap locks and they are perfect. Guaranteed to hold up to 700Lbs with those locks! To cut a long story short, this guitar is really great. There is no need to fool people by saying this guitar is as good as a Gibson, lets be realistic. This guitar is the best guitar you can buy for this price however. Great for a beginner or an intermediate. If you buy this guitar I recommend you get the hardshell case to it as well, because the paint work is fragile and due to its dark color may show scratch or bump marks. Last sentence would be.... ENJOY THIS GUITAR, GUARANTEED TO GIVE YOU JOY!

I bought the Les paul new in 2003. I heard the burst bucker 5 pro pickups were installed in this guitar so i had to try it for myself. The price paid for this guitar was $1,875

The new les paul standard is much different from any Fender stratocaster. It delivers great sustain and a unique tone with the new pickups. The three seperate pickup selections give each pickup selection a unique and distinct tone making every time playing the guitar a refreshing experience.

The only thing i deslike about this guitar is that it does not have locking tuners, aswell it doesnt have those locking things for the strap. The guitar is a of sufficient weight and strap lockers would make you fell more safe.

This Les paul standard is constructed of all mahogany and is one peice guitar. The finish of the guitar is unbelivble!!! the colours and wood chosen is to perfection. There is no problems with this guitar it is a work of art.

This guitar is the best.If you are looking to buy a double humbucker guitar and want a guitar for life that mite cost u an arm and leg try this guitar out. I have never been happier. You will never want to touch your strat again.

This Les Paul belongs to a friend of mine. I played it on his recordings a couple of times. The model lists for around $450.

Substantial (the legendary Les Paul weight). Good heritage cherry sunburst finish.

Nothing really exceptional about it. The fingerboard is not that good in feel; it's really too much to expect any Epiphone to feel and play like a Gibson. This particular Les Paul is also not very versatile, and the pickups seem to be weak. The nut got chipped and had to be replaced.

    Decent if not exceptional.

I don't think much of Epiphone's SG and Les Paul lines; I think their archtop series (the Riviera and the Dot are especially sweet) tends to be superior. Still, it *is*…

The tone and sustain are unbelievable. The Burstbucker Pro pickups have a real vintage vibe. Hints of a Strat kind of jangle in the bridge pickup but a much beefier sound than a Strat.

A stock strap lock system would have been really cool since the guitar is so heavy. Swapped the Gibson strings for D'Addario XLs on the first day.

This is a solidly constructed, flawlessly finished guitar. One strum will attest to the quality of the construction.

I've been playing a Tele and Strat through a Fender Custom Vibrolux amp. I wanted the Les Paul for slide guitar work. I play a similar style to Derek Trucks and needed the Les Paul for that really fat, warm sound. It absolutely growls through the Vibrolux amp. The finish is gorgeous.

This Gibson is a really well-made solid, heavy guitar. The rosewood fretboard and inlays are very nice and the sound is big and warm. It is also very noise free compared to my Fenders. I love the new Desert Burst finish. It glows very nicely on the carved top of the guitar.

For a solid body guitar, this is a fine instrument and will serve it's purpose as a slide guitar for many years to come. Luckily, I can afford such a nice guitar, but many people cannot. It seems to me that Gibson could find a way to produce these Les Pauls in a way that maintains quality while at the same time makes them more affordable for the public. They would sell many more guitars that way.
