A missing output signal of a microphone is commonly caused by turned off or defective phantom power supply: MR-PRO is designed to trace such microphone power supplies and measures the individual phantom voltage at the XLR connector pin 2 and pin 3.
The Minirator MR-PRO is designed to read the actual effective phantom power voltage with or without load. For example by connecting the
MR-PRO directly to the microphone input of the mixing desk, it displays the actual phantom power at pin 2 and pin 3 at no load conditions.
Full load conditions may be simulated with the help of a special “Y” test adapter. Thus in a second measurement, the loaded phantom voltage stability is measured according the corresponding standard IEC1938. This is designed to ensure that the phantom power supply is sufficient up to the maximum level, which supports best voice signal quality later on stage.
