So it's a hybrid amp:

prampli hybrid modulation (so electronic) / lamp

All Tube amplifiers.

The electronic part is a special circuit called the Fender DSP, which mimics a rponse prampli all lamps, while allowing mulate several DIFFERENT MODELS amp, and add effects numriques. It has 16 amp modulation, mostly inspired MODELS Fender, and five types of effects: reverb, delay, tremolo, chorus, Vibratone.

The dlivre amp 15 watts, making dj not bad for an amp lamps (lamps amp sounds in a much stronger gnral, power scabies, as its counterparts transistors) . Not using that apart I will not comment on full power, but it is usable rev low volume, as we shall see.

Level connections, there are between one guitar (not in December '), an output for an external 8 ohm cabinet and something to plug a footswitch. It only lacks two things:

An effects loop, even if personally I would not use at all. In addition it is quite logical, in the case of an amplifier East "vintage". But it will rdibitoire for some.

The headphone output, which would t more for an amp East "home". However apparently it's pretty complicated to install on an amp lamps ...

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the amp is very simple, especially compared collgues modlisation some of its plants that are sometimes gas ...

The amplifier is divided into two channels:

Channel 1 is a clear "pure lamps," in which it appears that the DSP circuit intervenes little.

Channel 2 gives a choice of 15 modulation amp Different.

Changing from one channel to another one touch of a button, or using a footswitch.
Both channels have gain and volume SETTING THE indpendants, but share a common qualisation with two knobs: bass / treble. And I do not understand: o pass the knob of mdiums? It seems that a cot would not dear to install one, and would probably add to the finesse rglages ... It is not catstrophique but it's a shame.

In use, the amp can be modlisations diffrent trs, particularly in terms of volume and qualisation, which limits the use of the amplifier as a two-channel: it be difficult to find a rgalge to move from one channel to another in the middle of a song. From this perspective the Super Champ is more of a "dual-channel" a "true" dual channel.

A low volume, the amp appears exploitable trs, trs with a good sound volume "conversation" and "howl", and sound a little less good but trs valid volume "murmur". However, this will require tame the volume knob, which may prove annoying to beginners trs. Wholesale flat, the amp sounds too much from 2.1 to 10, and no sound n'met below 1.5 (as a minimum graduation). We must therefore exercise finger to find the level IDAL ... Over time we become trs fort this game, but beginners is agaant trs.

The effects on them are rglent two knobs, and are also common to both channels: no way to program a channel "effective" channel and a "no effect". The config is also the trs simple: one knob to select the effect DSIR for a second rgler affect the percentage of the effect in relation to its "dry" without effect. We can thus make the effect more discrete or trs Submitted. For the cons is the only paramtre on which to play: the lments as speed or delay trmolo prrgls are, with the possibility to choose between three pr rglages Different. This is exploitable for use anecdotal, but is somewhat limiting for those who base their sound effects, or effects trs want to make: no way to go in DLIR noisy weird. Can also combine several effects together.

It is very easy to get a good sound. It is for me the one of the major advantages of this amp. Pesques on all modlisations, just plug the guitar to get a nice sound, the knobs of qualisation do not have that refined. Also the sound is transparent trs, and really respect the characters that are part of the guitars.

In fact, compared for example my old amp (Vox AD30VT), the Super Champ does not look like an amp modlisation: single use, impossible to keep in memory the sound program, its very s transparent. Apart from a choice of modlisations, we really feel like an amp handle "normal", not a computer, which I find enjoyable trs.

The manual is really bad. Two pages in French only, with no explanation, for example, prcautions respect to the use of an amp lamps. Fortunately there is Internet.

SOUNDS

So the sound ...

It's perfect. A low volume, it is simply the best amp I know. It is well DGRAD sr slightly below the volume "conversation", but still usable. A volume "conversation" and above is a rgal. The sound is clear, dynamic, equilibrated according trs IDE that I made an amp lamps. Although sr, it gets even better going up the sound, which is pretty tempting, but watch out for neighbors and ears, because the amp is soon a lot of noise ...

Personally I use only flat, with an ES335 and a Telecaster CHRE not up to P90. No guitar "type Fender" So. I play jazz (well, as long as possible ...), Blues and Rock '60s and '70s. So almost EXCLUSIVELY from clean and crunch, never heavy distortion.

Premire, Reue ide a break too rpandue no, Fender amps do not sound "better" with Fender type guitars. First, because nothing "sounds better", that is a matter of taste. Then the sound "style Gibson guitar + Fender amp" is the basic sound of Blues and much of the Rock (Stones, Neil Young ...). Personally I prfre far the Fender amp with a guitar humbuckers. That being said.

Channel 1 is, as we said, trs close its "raw" of the amp, the DSP circuit intervening only slightly. This is a clear vintage trs, trs living trs dynamic that "dirty" as and when it mounts the volume. Ideal for the Blues and Jazz. One can even get a nice crunch background condition of being deaf or become prt trs quickly. This channel also Ragit trs well with overdrive pedals, the amp a fawn all lamps. My Bad Monkey is mconaissable!

Channel 2 offers 15 amp modlisation diffrent, sweeping the whole range of backgrounds Fender today, almost. It includes:

3 amps "tweed" is to say the older Fender, clear of saturated trs. Trs good. The lighter is trs compress which can be useful to play the Dire Straits, for example, and the more saturated is really saturated and trs trs dirty. One approaches a little of Neil Young's live ...

3 amps "Blackface" TRS clear enough saturated. Trs good too.

3 amps "British": a Vox not unlike a Vox, a Marshall vintage trs good but not clear, a Marshall "modern", East Metal, which I find totally hideous.

3 amps "Hot Rod", the current range of Fender, which includes among others the trsrput Blues Junior. May be my prfrs, especially the first two and especially for the Blues in crunch and "light sale".

2 amps "Metal" awful. Supersaturation, very noisy and not subtle at all, I also found them a much more "electronic" than the other modulations. But then I do not play n'coute Metal ...

1 amp "Jazz" which sounds trs clumps with a solid body guitar, but comes into its own with a real jazz guitar half body. However for the Jazz I would prfre channel 1.

and finally an amp "sound" quite surprising. All modlisations of this type until I tried the silent trs ugly, but here we have a sound that made enough noise even on an electric guitar, without too artificial. However, it remains quite anecdotal and will not be an illusion from Real Audio!

Overall I am satisfied with TRS, except modlisations Metal. Achter a Fender but to play the Metal? As a general rule, this amp is a Fender amp. It is less versatile than some other amps modlisation, but in return, provides a much more assertive characters. What will make you a nice Jamble if you do not like Fender amps ...

The effects on them are pretty average I got, except rverbe, which is doing its job (I do not put much). None are terrible, they are all usable Manir anecdotal, but those who base their sound effects will have a few pedals. The "Vibratone" for example does not weight for my Small Stone, but even when it is fun to use. Do it again, as stated above, not much possibility to rglages.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp for several months, three years of APRS Vox AD30VT, another hybrid amp modlisation / lamp, and I am satisfied with TRS.

Basically, the positives:

The best sound I ever heard volume "conversation"

Trs a nice volume "murmur"

A great volume "cry" (I'm not all beyond)

Full Fender sound! (I love)

Effects honntes

Rgler simple, we get a good sound quickly trs

Ngatifs points:

The volume knob is really boring to play not much use when it was not the hand (but eventually come)

Makes you want to play hard

Metal sounds not great (but I do not like the Metal)

Palette rglages limit the effects

No knob of mdiums?

Full Fender sound! (If you like it)

And yes, I would do the same choice without hsiter. For home use Jazz-Blues-Rock vintage, it's the best amp btement I know.

Edict of 2011, three years of use APRS: I still love the clear sound of a canal, incredibly alive and vibrant even compares "true" all lamps. on the other hand I do not use any of the channel 2 which, in terms of dynamic, transparent and natural, does not make the weight for a small all-tube amp like the Vox east crunch Lil 'Night Train, or same channel one with good pedals. However the SCXD remains an excellent amp, if only for one channel, which is sufficient itself. For cons, I am skeptical of the sudden trs intrt version 5 watts, dpourvue of this famous canal 1 ...
