Alex Hilton provides us with his vision of the sequenced gate with a new free plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows.
The A1TriggerGate allows you to create a rhythmic gate effect, a technique that is widely used in electronic dance and even pop music.
The VST, AU, RTAS and AAX 32 and 64-bit plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows can sequence 4 steps per beat (16th note in Normal mode) or 3 steps (8thT in Triplet mode) for a total of 16 steps : each step features its own volume fader and you can choose the length for each section between NoStep, ShortStep, LongStep and StepLink.
The plug-in also includes an effect section with a low-pass filter, overdrive/distortion and an echo/delay, which can be globally disabled, and a Random button will let you experiment.
The A1TriggerGate is available for free download from www.alexhilton.net.
