Pedal tube (made in Korea mine) powered 300V unlike other pedals that are powered lamps to less than 200V. The 300V power is typical of tube amp "high-gain". It seems that having one foot in voltée tube is a commercial asset ...
Channel 1:
- Light switch ==> Can be used as a preamp
- Crunch switch
Channel 2:
- Disto
Potentiometers available:
- Gain knob 1 & 2 (2 stacked knobs, very practical!)
- A push active on channel 1 section to choose between light or crunch
- Common 2-channel Bass
- Middle shared by two channels
- Treble common to the two channels
- ISF common 2-channel
- Volume 1 & 2 works the same way as the gain above
- Switch Channel 1
- Switch Channel 2
Construction:
Quality flawless finish, no play at the portards,
rubberized coating that aggripe much ground, one exhaust the
heat generated by the lamp, a small LED to orange
Obviously the lamp Sovtek 12AX7WA.
Easy connection, a guitar input, an output tube amp, a pedal or amplifier output transistor and an output for recording (HP simulator) and a socket for 16V transformer (supplied).
No MIDI interface.
So a priori in the characteristics is a real hit, it was everything you need in this pedal. Clear sound, crunch, distortion and bypass.
We feel that it's solid and can go to war (but without projection of water due to aeration, which gives an opening to the components).
And there ... but unfortunately
UTILIZATION
... this "but" is in use.
I criticized this pedal is that his level, it is really TOP, "what? He dares to criticize that?! But it's crazy!"
Bin yeah!
the clean sound (CH1) is so good!
the crunch sound (CH1 yet?) is so crunchy!
distortion (Canal2 this time) is so big and full!
and then I said to myself, but then damn! why is it that they do not separate the light crunch of two distinct channels with their own earnings and volumes?!
It becomes very inconvenient to walk on the 2 or impossible in the open games.
We must make a choice, use the crunch or use the clear. This is because of the small black button on the size of a fly that makes the switch.
So it's great to have all these sounds from under the feet, but when you can not operate properly while it frustrating!
Another criticism, ISF, ISF rah lala this ... It is a killing, is the first time I touch a knob as type "presence" and "VOICING" to change the color of sound.
It provides access to records as American and British.
Features out of hell! But it is not doubled (or tripled) to be associated with either the channel 1 and channel 2.
It's a mess! Please gentlemen of BlackStar, next time fill the pedal with these extras and it will be a machine of death that kills!
SOUND QUALITY
That's all I expected from a distortion pedal in sound quality course (ref. section use grrr ...)
This is the first time I hear a 15W transistor amp (H & K Edition Blue) sound as big and full. it's impressive, I do not regret having sold my 75W!
It's simple, the pedal is transparent and reflects the personality of my Willow's Spirit (stunt passing ^ _ ^) 2 Humbucker mounted in Rio Grande - Tallboy (to re-pass, because really splittable with 2 single coils ).
It sounds both Humbucker in Single Coil.
American-style set to ISF, was a clear slam on single coil.
And distortion of Humbucker is the mega potato guaranteed! Low frequencies are very nice as palm muting, and really leads the character. By adding a little delay ... hmmm ... believes there is too much!
The light switch in channel1 done wonders again, it's too bad not to have separated the light from the crunch ... It is also possible to make the cruncher channel1 clear, but it is certainly not the only switch CH1 crunch that pushed all the way to gain level can provide a super overdrive. I like to use the overdrive with the ISF britishisé Humbucker neck, it is round and warm ...
Otherwise, the setting frequency (Bass / Mid / Treb) is ultra efficient, it is very sensitive in the right direction. It sharpens easily setting.
The variety of sounds is very broad by combining the frequency settings, the ISF, the channels clear, crunch, distortion, it never ends. I am far from being able to exploit it for my records sound are currently unfortunately very poor.
I use the clear sound fendérien, the bluesy crunch, the big marshall overdrive, distortion and boogie. Finally do not rely too much to my descriptions of sounds, I must have a transcript of approximately lexical what I mean.
I have not been able to try out Direct. I would have the opportunity and I will share with you my impression.
Frankly, with sounds of this quality you can afford to play on small amps. Well, not stuff nazes unnamed preferably, though, finally .. must try, the pedal will give the most of your amp and that is not given to all.
Anyway, sound quality reasons I do not need to have a bigger amp, no need for tube output stage either.
I can not imagine it going on to bigger bowls ho ho ho!

Here, I add an additional opinion on the output Emulated Output.
Setup: Start SSH Blade ==> Ht-dual ==> Delay / Chorus H2O ==> Microphone Karaoke Mixer with a mid-range ==> Amp hi-fi pioneer VSX-810S ==> Sony 5.1 speakers
Do not laugh especially for karaoke mixer ... because the very fact that we can completely do without a dedicated amp to the guitar if you do not play at home and you're forced to play at low volume (shit disturber neighbors ...).
It can be according to my ears, a very good sound and mixed it passes nickel in hi-fi speakers. I do not have the high-end hardware, far from it, and yet I am very satisfied with the result. All sounds go well, the light to nag. The distos are as pleasant as Emulated Output. I had fun playing on the backing track with the mixer, it mixes very well mixed with the sounds of a CD.
I discovered another wonderful ability of this pedal, I'm happy!

OVERALL OPINION
It should be two weeks that I [-August 2007]. And I use it as much as I can.
In summary:
+ Variety of sounds, quality sound on two channels, ease of adjustment, manufacturing quality, price / quality ratio
- Lack of practical use when one wants to fully exploit the 3-channel (potential)
I had a TubemanII, it is worth as its equivalent to control, but the TubemanII is much more limited in the settings. Well, we can say that even at the same price, the HT-Dual will take it with her huge distortion.
I have not tried the other brand products, but because of lack of opportunity practices channel1 (yes I come back often), I think about taking a HT-Boost, which might give me a super clear sound, but it will not be the same, since there is no wealth tax and wealth tax if in addition there were two features I accumulate wealth tax, and it could be disgusting.
If this brings one more boost, I will offer it as soon as I can afford.
