Published on 05/02/11 at 12:57After trying 60 of the microphones strat Mark, and as I am happy, I naturally thought of him to replace Gibson soapbar in my Les Paul Special VOS.
Warm and wise advice as usual! Having already double AlnicoII I asked Marc a set of P90 AlnicoV to recapture the spirit of Rock'n'Roll and Classic Junior of the big time. He did this while demagnetizing the magnets slightly to reduce the aggressive side of AlnicoV.
After replacing and testing, everything works perfectly, we recognize the grain P90. Strangely, I do not know if there is a break-in period on guitar pickups (!), But as with the 60's Start pickups, I had to tweak the settings to high, and play it for several days to find the balance and sound.
But since then, hey hey, the P90 as it likes. A round neck pickup but airy, precise, defined and a micro bridge angry, nervous, loudmouthed, but still hot and not aggressive to 2 under. Intermediate position is round, perfect for arpeggios or casseroles. These microphones are dynamic, responsive to the attack and feel as expected of a real P90.
In sum, I rediscovered my Les Paul Special, she saw. Incidentally, a bad point to Gibson for their average for a P90 guitar "Custom Shop" at this price, but hey, we are accustomed
