Virtually everything has been said on the subject, however, the lack of balanced connectors can cause problems of noise if you have appreils making too much noise electromagnetic ... which is often the case.

Good point for the digital inputs split, which act as mini digital patch (XL MOTIF 8 and Mone share repection toslink and spdif inputs).

I use it mainly for recording external sources (guitar and bass amps, vocals, keyboards) with an AMD1800 + 512RAM PC ASUS A7N266C CM (Nvidia chipset) running XP pro.

Last point, forget the preamps, even those of my MG12 / 4 is much better. The difference in making a voice with an AKG C4000B is the day and night!

UTILIZATION

No problems installing XP and Logic 5.5.

Only problem: MIDI sync loss when deciding to register the plugin in Ad-restricted insert on any track. Just to correct, to bypass the effect in question (the plugin delay compensation is clearly not fully developed). It's still annoying when after recording a track, the playback is not synchronized with said track.

Never read the manual!

GETTING STARTED

I never met a crash at the map, there was still another source of problems ...

The stability of drivers has always been good, but with the new drivers in December 2003, it rocks: who gets 2.18m latency (buffer to 48 samples) to 44kHz/24bits? (It is true that to be a quiet playback in more than thirty tracks, I have to go down to the more conventional latency 5ms).

in 96kHz/24bits, latency "fall" to 2.67ms including simultaneous recording of eight tracks!

All these measures were carried out under Logic Audio Platinum V5.5 (the latest PC, when at the end of the war games PC / MAC?) With a good dose of intensive plugins (reverb, but no ... Multipressor Ad -limit, remember, because when the plug is good).

OVERALL OPINION

I have the card for 2 years now. I could compare the quality of converters with other cards (M-Audio MOTU and others).
It is true that quality is a little below these references, however, the differences are subtle and must have an ear trained to understand the nuances. In my case, I think of the inputs and balanced outputs contribute most to improving the overall sound quality.

In any case there is no substitute for good external converters like Apogee even if the price is not the same. (FYI "M" uses this card in his home studio, but using the converters mentioned above).

Again, if you have any respect for your condenser microphone, buy a good preamp, you will not regret it.
The quality / price ratio for those seeking the ability to record eight tracks simultaneously remains unbeatable!
