I use the MicroTrack for two weeks as a professional recording relief instead of an MD. And lightweight as a recorder when the weight is the enemy n1. And as continuity in parallle recorder with video recorder that does not cut the same time.

WHAT I LIKE:

small cheap (400 euros with 128M CF) TRANSFR directly on the computer as a USB volume (no weird interface), possibility to choose the recording format.

WHAT I DO NOT LIKE:

1) find a card that is compatible.
Note to users: The Transcend 1GB 80x (39 euros at the corner) is not compatible.
Should make a list of cards tested somewhere.
Testing: LEXAR 2GB PRO X133.

2) make a list of microphones that work properly on 30V - 7kilohms. It's not that high voltage output that ESG Resistors. To stay would require a lightweight mic. Stereo XY or MS. The Schoeps WCC-3 work, but if you must SAVE the battery may be it is better prvoir collection outdoor power batteries.

3) provision of the notch. We do not see that the MicroTrack possible on a table. When he strapp on my mixer, you see nothing. Fortunately that is 24 bits RULES once and for all.

4) self-limited, and no pack / battery. There are about USB, but what was used when the machine is small, if we get around a plant?

5) no headphone acceptable. When recording in 24 bits, it is assumed to have a great guard and not rgler level while shooting, with 32 dB of custody remains 19 useful bits and the background noise of microphone is best cod at least 5 bits. The output level "monitor" can not hear anything.
