Apple's Magic Mouse is the latest and greatest in their line of impressive mice to go along their computers. I don't own the Magic Mouse (I've still got a Mighty Mouse), but I've been using it a bunch at a producer's home studio where I work. The Magic Mouse is available for purchase individually but it also comes with new iMacs as a stock item. The Magic Mouse is cool for a number of reasons, probably the first reason being that it is multi-touch and response to more than just a single click. It's also really smooth and of course wireless. It runs on batteries but they also advertise rechargeable batteries to go along with it, which is probably a good idea for those who are going to be using their mouse on an everyday basis. The Magic Mouse is definitely the smoothest feeling of the Apple mice that I've come across as it's super easy to navigate with it, which is more than necessary if you're using it with your DAW like Pro Tools where everything needs to be as precise as possible. The only problem I have with the Magic Mouse is the high price if you're going to buy it on it's own, as I really don't think it's worth it over the now much cheaper Mighty Mouse. Of course since this is pretty new I expect the price the drop a good amount so if you can wait I'd recommend it. For me the mighty mouse does just fine, but if you're looking for something with a bit more control and an overall better feel, there's nothing out there quite like the Magic Mouse. If you're on the fence, head over to your local Apple shop and try it for yourself to see if it's worth it for you.
