USE

Thick round and round but very comfortable even for small mains.Tres good access to the latest cases.Vernis crappy handle .... like a lot of gibson so it's annoying and it not slip but good with a polish that happens.
The weight is the big advantage of sg but the guitar is poorly équilibré.Les finishes are not terrible for the most recent models (nail file, badly cut nut).
Tuning holding limit, with a deep draft that goes roughly but beware of bends ....

SOUNDS

Being a fan of Les Paul, a fact that sg bland issue sustain and thick disto.Le sound is more aggressive and sharp as a lp and 490R and 490t lack some definition in my neck taste. The, finishes and microphones are well below the 61 reissue (thinner handle and microphones 57 classic and classic plus much more realistic and autenthiques crunch).
The sg std lack of character but I think that's just my opinion.
The big problem is this lousy varnish and featureless microphones .I never taken pleasure on my sg std and play rock genre ac / dc I take a les paul std !!! To clean sounds .. ... Bad ....
I think the standard that is purchased primarily for the look, the weight and the price (less dear than lp std) and access to acute ... and of course for fans of Angus young !! ! But better to take a 61 reissue; certe more expensive but secondhand it's still affordable.

NOTICE GLOBAL

Gros finishes problems on newer and lacks character microphones.
€ 1,590 in 2008 purchased in stores, so that I bought at high prices since the prices have gone down and is found at just over € 1,000 on the net,! But it's Russian roulette for finishing therefore a risk of ending up with a poorly finished stew and not sound .it the same story with the les paul and considering the price it is a shame for a brand like Gibson !!!
I'm a fan of this brand so I allows me to be critical!
