I paid a heavy price in relation to my income at the time and I wanted to isolation and Quality. I got what I wanted, I use less now but at one time, I had several hours a day on the ears. I 'have always connected behind the blocks, 600 ohms, I like it pretty well.
Yes I would buy easily seen that the current price seems ridiculous given the quality (would still have to see if the current is known as a reflection of that of the time)

Clearly, it is the progressive oxidation of multi-strand copper which create problems of false contacts. Cut the line / change the plug (not troubleshoot or fiddle).
If you just buy it, make a very nasty loop the cable around the headband, making sure that the headband to the base is flexible and relaxed. It améliorerant life every few years.
