EMG Pickups announce new Geezer Butler GZR-P and GZR-PJ signature bass sets at NAMM.

The Winter NAMM 2014 will see the introduction of two new EMG pickup sets bearing the name of legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bass player Geezer Butler.

Geezer started working with EMG in 2011 looking to find the classic bass tone he had in Black Sabbath’s early days. To recapture that early Black Sabbath tone, EMG conceived a new vintage style passive P & PJ design with a few modern touches.

The all-solderless P set uses Alnico 5 pole pieces and custom wound coils for just the right amount of punch and grit. The PJ set also uses Alnico 5 poles and features two custom wound split-coils that both eliminate the noise and hum usually associated with early '70s bass pickups and allow for more power and volume than a standard single-coil J giving the balance between the P and J.

The result is a deep, tight low end that you can hear on tracks like “Iron Man”, “War Pigs” and “Paranoid.”

Both models ought to be available pretty soon and, in the meantime, can be pre-ordered directly at www.emgpickups.com. The GZR-P has a price of $109.99, while the GZR-PJ set costs $149.99.
