Audiofanzine FR's review

By Audiofanzine FR, 05/12/2008
(Originally written by Maytouk/translated from Audiofanzine FR)

Vintage drum machine. The setup is more complex than on modern drum machines, the editing is long and it was necessary to carefully read the user's manual.

Lots of interesting rhythms.

When it was launched people found the sound authentic and effective. DAWs didn't exist at the time so this Alesis was very valuable.

I sold it a long time ago because I found editing was too long but I recall it being a good drum machine. It was my first and only hardware drum machine.

It is a reliable product and people still use it today without any problems.

Well, I'll try to leave an opinion beyond the RAS ...
The burner is equipped with connectivity Midi in, out ... thru, 2 * 2 output jack, output data backup on K7 audio, headphone output NO ATTENTION!
It contains 49 new sounds (even no effect) ... Apart from the adjustment of tone.
10 bass drum
7 Snare
5 toms
2 open hi-hat
1 closed
3 Cymbals
congas, maracas, agogo, triangle claps, etc ...
There are 16 pads on which to play, its polyphony is 16 tracks (click measurement when recording including mounting).
Ability to record 100 and 100 song patterns from these patterns.
No demo and not recorded rhythm ... at the base, the box is very empty.

I quibble a bit early because I had no user manual, but with a good soul of Af, it's done.
Easy to use, there has been a pattern that can be quantified, change the length of the loop ... at the base, was recorded live by tapping the pads (which can be assigned a sound) or by using the Step System.
Then you can make a song (adding up to 100 patterns).
The possibilities morning are quite nice compared to some Br

The sounds of it ... Bhen 16bits, so all is well.
Only thing is, 49 sounds, it's not enough right now especially since they can not be edited.
No effect, I repeat, but we can adjust the instruments in tune and also the pan.
The expression is good and may even have br "fishing" to conditiond'avoir pads in good condition.
Velocity parameter, but no aftertouch.
I like the way electronic drum toms exagonale 80's damn cheap.

I use it recently, I had to retype it, it almost waltz in the trash.
Be careful when purchasing to verify that the pad and other buttons work correctly (contact graphite) ... otherwise, will be handyman or switch to noon.
I have other br, notament a Tr-606.
At the risk of being lynched, I prefer it (there's more sound), even if we do not know like live mix on a tr606, we know it sync.
Br A cheap to own if you have nothing else, it helps out well.

BAR of the 80's. Fifty sound samples in 16 bits 44khz (the era's must!).
The sounds are not really editable, just a detune function that should be used sparingly, but effect.
Midi in out thru, 2 stereo outputs (very good). No built-in effects.
Recording mode or not not real time.

Usage is quite simple and intuitive, the SLP has a function quickly identifiable. The only problem is the bad frequent contact with all these keys, which is disabling at the pads when you want to record in real time.
It can affect any sound any pad, then rule for each pad on the volume, pan, output (stereo 1 and 2) the pitch.
You can save 99 patterns (measures indifferent) and the patterns can be assembled into songs (99 too). It's enough to do a good job.

The sound samples are very good and always actualit my taste. For rock / jazz / latin is really excellent. For style house techno rap etc ... I think it's not a ...
All samples are usable and realistic which is not true of all bar. For shame that they are completely against figs (no update possible).
The expression is excellent, we believe it!

I bought new (the era 3500f) in 1985 I believe, and I always used. At the time of its release had the effect of a bomb (qualitprix report).
There was another model (hr16B) with different sounds, but I never had in his hands.
I am very attached and I care.
For 50 euros is given but beware of bad contacts pads.

Attention "old stuff" ...
connectors classic "in / out / thru" more like putting the HR16 d in sync with other machines!
no effects section, but a lot of different sounds in reserves of conventional sounds, very honest.
Apart from a fine tune too rudimentary possibility of changing the sounds from the same machine.

Easy to use with no fuss, make a rhythm with Charley, snare, tom o After some time doing very quickly c ...
quantize the system to be effective and smooth, may be a difficulty ds making more elaborate rhythms with breaks etc. .....

Very classic neutral tones do, finally good as it can do just about all styles of music with "rap to rock ".....
after you can not say that the bank is impressive to listen, the same time the Roland was most attractive with its sounds of "tr"

jai said this time the HR16 heard al ds a lot of songs so ...

The first machine in 1989 for me .... very satisfied with having, it was not very expensive and more, quality price ratio c a choice I would do
