Thread Problem with pads volume

My SR-16 volume hitting any pad has reduced to almost zero. All other functions, e.g. patterns and songs have fully adjustable Main Left/Right volume. I have reset the machine but with no improvement.
Has anyone an idea how I can fix this? I am an electronic technician, but cannot locate the service manual only a ROM zipfile.
