Australia's FOMOfx will present their electronic vibrato Virtual Jeff at the NAMM.

Announced as “the next- generation successor to the traditional whammy”, the Virtual Jeff eliminates all mechanical hassles. As a result, it can be used on electric and acoustic guitars without affecting the guitar or tuning.

According to FOMOfx, the pitch data from the whammy is massaged by the Virtual Jeff processor, so the user can select exactly what pitch to reach at the end of a bend, up or down, making bends predictable and allowing them to be used musically, for instance as part of a unique lick or riff – not the kind of stuff you’d want to try with a mechanical whammy without a certain (long) practice time.

Hence, Virtual Jeff delivers pitch-perfect bends every time, but it is also versatile as there are two, footswitch-selectable modes – each of them customized by the player to bend to different pitches (e.g. mode A can be set like a Bigsby – 2 semitones down, one semitone up while mode B will be set like a Floyd Rose – two octaves down, one octave up). Just hit the footswitch at any time to instantly swap modes. A total 8 presets are to be included.

Designed to fit most guitar models, Virtual Jeff is true bypass and requires a 9V supply.

While Virtual Jeff is not yet available and has no MSRP announced as of yet, FOMOfx will be at the NAMM’s Booth 2192, Hall D.
