Marshall's Avt275 is a "ValveState" amp.
"ValveState" is a cool word for an amp that has a valve pre amp and a solid state power amp.
Basically, it is just a solid state that sorta-kinda-almost-sometimes emulates a tube amp.
It has a clean channel, two overdrive channels, and an acoustic simulator channel. It is equipped with a multitude of built in effects ranging from a couple of reverbs to flange and chorus.
It pushes 75W through each of the 12" speakers and it also has an "Emulated Line Out" that supposedly emulates the sound of the amp if you ever have the need to record it D.I.


UTILIZATION

The amp sounds great. Period.
My favorite thing about it has definitely been the versatility.

The clean channel is fabulous. It sounds delicious. It captures the tone and dynamic that you are looking for - no matter what you are looking for. From twangy blues to flat clean rhythm, the tone can be found. It is pretty incredible.

Both of the O.D. channels are usable. The first overdrive channel can give more of that old school crunch and classic Marshall Sound. The second O.D. is much heavier and I rarely use it. It can get out of hand very quickly. It easily becomes muddy and silly.
BUT...
As far as tube-like sound is concerned...
The amp absolutely under performs and will absolutely disappoint you.

The acoustic simulator is a joke. Don't even bother.

I have to give it a 9 in the Utilization category because of the versatility. I have used this amp on Punk records, blues records, indie, and reggae.
It is a solid choice no matter what it is doing.
The idea that it was supposed to be a decent substitute for a tube amp is ludicrous. Luckily, I bought it when I was so young that I didn't know the difference and therefore had no prejudice towards the claim.

If you want a tube amp then just get a tube amp.

SOUNDS

I primarily play a Schecter Diamond series.
It has a pick up and a humbucker, both are Duncan. It is a fantastic guitar but it has been through hell.
The plates for the control knobs are noisy and useless because of my need to quickly repair it with a sauntering iron.
It doesn't make sounds unless all of the knobs are all the way up.
Hence my surprise at the AVT275's versatility.

The Clean channel is perfect.
O.D. 1 is good.
O.D. 2 is usually silly.
The Acoustic simulator is useless.
The built in effects are actually O.K. but you will have to dial them in to the point of questioning whether or not any of them are really worth the time or effort.

I did a review on this amp a while back and I spent a whole lot of time talking about the "Emulated Line-Out" that is on the back of the head.
All that you really need to know about it is that you should just be miking the cab. It is basically just another headphone output and it sounds nothing like it claims.
Without the twin Celestion speakers to shape the sound, everything falls apart.

Again, being able to control the sound as much as you can with this amp(without using stupid effects), is truly fantastic.
But, all of the cool toys and gizmos and gadgets basically add up to nothing more than a waste of space.

It sounds great. Just remember that it is an amp- not an effects station.

As far as the price goes, you should definitely buy it used so that you have a chance at a reasonable deal. I am not sure whether they even make these anymore so it might be your only option.
I see one on Ebay for $500.
Considering the Clean channel and the versatility and the power(yes, it's frickin' loud), that is a reasonable price.

I use this amp every single day.

I was looking for an amp with some good overdrive, excellent tone and a decent power output. I found it in Music Maker here in Dublin, in the good ol' Republic of Ireland. I paid 800 Euros for it, a bit pricey, but I was happy to part with it.

First off, its a Marshall, so it will definitely be a favourite for most guitarists out there. I didn't buy it for the Acoustic Sim as many people who buy it do. I bought it for the OD Channels. The OD1 is fantastic for the sound that made Marshall famous, good old Crunch, just about any crunch sound is achievable from it. The next step up is the OD2, where the gain is far more sensitive and a lot bassier than its predecessor. Good for extra ear drum pounding action for all death metal fanatics out there. All in all, excellent output. The Clean Channels are not to be snubbed though, the Acoustic Sim is good for not needing to switch guitars in mid play, but the volume on it is equal to half that on other channels, and the Clean Channel itself does incredible clean to a nice Bluesy break up.

Not much, the Acoustic Sim is weaker than the other Channels in terms of volume, thats about all I dislike. Other than that fault, it's a great Amp.

Rock hard construction. The combo's closed back gives a fantastic Bass response for the Clean and OD's. But a complete retard could ruin this by opening it up for a look, sealing it back up, and doing a real shit job of it. Always leave an amp untouched but by an experienced technician.

Quality, simply, quality

I got this amp six months old off a well known internet auction site for £345. It retails for £560 - bargain! I bought it because I was looking for a powerful combo for gigs.

I love this amp. I looks brilliant, and the range of sounds you can get out of it is frankly terrifying. The four channels - acoustic simulator, clean, overdrive 1 and overdrive 2 range from jangly piezo acoustic to the most metallic metal. Each channel has a seperate gain and volume control, so the channels overlap nicely. There's a master volume and master prescence knob, too. There are two FX channels - one for acoustic simulator / clean, and one for overdrive 1 and 2. These sound really good, especially considering they're inbuilt.

This combo weighs as much as a small cow! It doesn't have wheels, either, so get a roadie, or get down the gym. Also, the power cable is only about a metre long, so it needs to be close to a power point. The number of knobs on the front means that you'll have to be on top of things if you want to change settings during a gig.

I think this was actually hewn out of stone, or perhaps made from the remnants of a collapsed star. Everything is sturdy and possibly bomb proof. Some of the knobs feel a bit wobbly, though.

If you've got the cash, this is a brilliant amp. The range of sounds is great, and it is loud enough to fill a decent sized club without needing to be mic'd up. Genius!

Required a "versatile" amp, for clubs, pubs and large venue work. Looked at the Marshall DSL/TSL and Fender Hotrod Deville. Read an article on the AVT Series so decided to have a listen to the AVT 275, Marshall's AVT Flagship. What an amp, well O.K. compared back to back with the DSL or TSL it lacks a little, bit in a live mix it really does cut it.

Versatile tone , and all shades in between. That doesn't seam to suffer the sound wave clipping problems of many solid sate amps.
75w stereo ( 150w) through 2x specially designed celestion 12" speakers, sealed in an enclosed cabinet. Driven by a hybrid pre-amp, 1x ECC83 (12AX7)dual triode valve.
4 channels clean,acoustic sim, OD1 & OD2. Clean, OD1 & OD2 channels have independant gain and volume controls and bright or scoop buttons. While the acoustic simulator channel has a depth, body and volume control.
The clean channel is one the amp's best kept secrets, crank the gain right up, add a touch of EQ and reverb to taste, sit back and soak up the tone of that 12AX7 singing like an angel. If that doesn't float your' boat try OD1, from crunchy rhythm to full on blues. OD2 does what Marshall does best, Hendrix drive to " all hell's broken loose" harmonic scream.
Acoustic simulator, another good solid usable tone, sparles with single coils but humbuckers add that touch of "dreadnought body" tone.
16 on board effects, sales gimmic or after thought ? Who cares !. They sound good, "very" similar to Marshall's range of stomp boxes !.The Controls have been integrated into the amp with such simplicity you won't need to open the manual ( or get your kids to show you !).
A presence control, on a solid state amp, that does what it should, what ever next.

It's heavy ( small price to pay for the tone ) and easy solved with a set of castors or a roadie !
The gain on the acoustic sim channel struggles to compete with the other three channels. However can be over come by prudent use of the master volume.

I play guitar for 7 years now and I was equipped with a mexican strat and a 20watter by samick till recently. three months before i bought the marsh from athens(this is in greece where i live) for 900 euroes(almost 998 $). when i played the ac. sim. i got a very pleasant sound. things did not change with clean channel,very warm sound and with some of the aeffects onboard it is great sounding. BUT the two od channels (with the scoop on) made blow up to the wall. it was the cheapest and the worst sound i have ever heard. if you turn of the scoop it can be improved.

I acquired this amp from Guitar Center in Cleveland - $899. I was looking for an amp and pedal effects that was more portable than my 8 space rack and 5150 head and 4x12 cabinet.

My combo amp selection was narrowed down to the Fender Pro Chorus. One of the features that I was looking for was a stereo effects return, so I could use just the power section of the amp and bypass the preamp entirely if necessary.

It happened that 2 guitarists were trading licks in the music store, one player on a Fender Ulitmate Chorus, the other on the Marshall AVT275. The Fender player was much better, but the guy playing through a Les Paul on the Marshall amp had unbeatable tone in such a small package - my decision was made and a potential "tone catastrophe" was avoided.

Full sized tone out of a small, easily portable package. Also more features on this little amp in terms of 4 channels and on board effects, plus stereo output, when compared to most head/cabinet products, but delivers a believeable "full sized" sound.

I wish it had casters, maybe it is an available option, but mine was new and in the box, without wheels. Nothing a quick trip to the hardware store won't fix.

It appears to be rock solid construction

A little more expensive than other compact combos w/ effects, but again it has 4 separate channels, has the Marshall look and sound - worth every penny.

This amp rocks. It's got four channels with a six button footswitch. The acoustic channel sounds great with single coil pickups. The clean channel stays clean even at high volumes. OD1 is great for hard and classic rock, or if you turn the gain down it's great for blues. OD2 is your Godsmack kick your a## distortion. You get great harmonics and great bottom end as the back of the speaker cabinet is closed. Reverb and chorus effects are good.

Seems very rugged and well built. Hey it's a Marshall. It is a very heavy unit.

I think anyone that wants a versatile amp without a hugw pricetag should check this bad boy out.

I acquired this unit from Guitar Trader (online) ... they had the best package deal with a Les Paul Classic ... I paid $799 for the 2-12, 150W combo amp

This unit's acoustic channel (4th) is awesome ... makes your guitar sound really close to an acoustic without changing guitars ... also the OverDrive 1 & 2 channels are great for leads ...

I wish it were not so heavy ... about 60 lbs. .. but it is solidly built .. so that is probably why ... also wish there was a digital display of which effect is being used ... it is set up as a rotary dial know with 16 positions ...

Rock solid Marshall construction ... well laid out controls ... sturdy durable footswitch to change channels

I acquired this great combo amp from guitar-trader.com out in San Diego, CA. Special price of $800 ... a real steal for Marshall's flagship AVT series Stereo 2 x 75 watt (150W) combo amp.

I like everything! Especially the new "Acoustic" channel (one of four channells). It simulates an acoustic as easy as clicking a footswitch. The other 3 channels are Clean, Overdrive 1 & Overdrive2. The amp also has 16 digital effects & accutronics "real" reverb. The effects range from stereo chorus, to flanger to multiple "room/hall" reverb settings. Has a 6 switch footswitch to select channels and on/off for digital effects. The unit also has a headphone out for silent practice (very handy) and a stereo DI line out for recording or sending the signal to your PA system ... also very cool! Stereo effects in/out also included on back panel ... Best part is the sweet Marshall sound from the enclosed back Celestion speakers (2x12").... great bottom end for a combo !!! This unit is awesome and has tons of power to crank out that great Marshall sound! Also, the master volume can be turned down to get that sweet sound at a lower level ... good thinking Jim!

GO check out one of these amps ... you'll love it as I have found no better amp for club work than this one ... A Les Paul Classic - 1960 Re-Issue sounds great with this combo!

UTILIZATION

Despite the number of buttons impresionant the control panel, we find it very easy.
Each channel its own rglages clearly identified - The buttons on the qualiseur really work.
For cons, the choice of effects is not empty - it is not always what we numro.
As for SETTING THE same effect him, it has the right that one paramtre per preset.
Moreover we can not effect change 'the flies', we can just turn it on or not.
Trs is limited and it is clear that the effects section (far from being dsagrables) is not the strong point of this 'bug'.
Résumé in use:
section prampli-amp: Excellent.
Effects section: Simple but limit (normal for a while!).

SOUNDS

Moving quickly on the effects (dj evokes above):
The rverbes is correct (preset 1 6) and 15 preset may be useful to magnify the sound alone.
These effects can not be transcendent enough themselves (for blues / boogie-caf concert for example) and what a joy to dplacer with just a guitar, an amplifier and a jack.
Now, let's get srieuses, and this amp is a killer. The four channels dchirent each in their style.
The simulation allows me to get acoustic sounds of a gentle .... to a pale JazzChorus.
The clean channel you are engaged on a branch Fender .. yes, yes, I swear. The fact that the body is firm to the level of HP should be instrumental in this and slamming his prcis. Never seen on a Marshall ... and has 15 years that I used!
The drive1 can travel to the land of the crunch of death that kills' ... with all the little nuances that make a diffrence ds a lamp gets hot ...
The drive 2, it is 'classic' for the Marshall, to wit, that his big hard ...
E in the case, the two speakers offer good sound dispersion.
In short, a truly versatile amp and with the personality ...

OVERALL OPINION

I have this amp for 2 years. I have used with or without my effects rack (TC Electronics G-Major, GP100).
In two cases, a good trs amp that sounds!
The 2 x 75w allow it to be comfortable everywhere. From my room ...... my living room ... O)
Marshall is the best 'hybrid' that I had (my 4th) and is similar in sound of my REFERENCE me (oh no, not Julien Clerc, piti. ..): my head Marshall Anniversary (all-tube - 3 channels - noon).
It's clean channel that impressed me the most (for the big sound, we are used to with DJ Marshall).
In short, an excellent report qualitprix for this 'monster' of 28 Kg (Have my back!) Delivered without wheels.

This is a hybrid combo 2 X 75W, with pre-amplification stage tube (ECC83) and digital effects. There are 4 channels, 2 effects sections 16, 12 2HP (celestial). It comes with a foot to 6-way lights.

9 for strength, finish and overall appearance of the product. It is nice and solid!

UTILIZATION

Use of this amp is you can not classic 3-band equalizer (bass / mid / high) for each channel (clean / overdrive). Bright button to add shine and touch scoop to dig the sound.

8 effects for non-adjustable foot (see below).

SOUNDS

At the sound, I must admit that for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. First of all it is worth noting that I tossed and turned in all directions to maximize the different settings and sounds it can offer. At the clean sound, the lamp gives a certain richness and harmonic dynamics. It is not only a transistor amp and you can hear. As for the distortion, it's nice to find the typical sound marshall. Do not expect was the JCM 800 or JCM 2000 (why you can expect to double the budget), but found that I do not know what, this feature precious marshall sound that made the legend of bands like maiden. It is true that the integrated effects are of high quality, the only problem is that once an effect assigned manually via a knob to a channel, it is impossible to change during a song "live". In other words, you select your reverb, delay your or your chorus once and for all, but if you want to change in the score, and although the footswitch do not allow it. It is harmful if you want to play on stage for varying styles and moods. Fortunately, with four different channels, there is something to concoct variations of its very interesting.
In Chapter disabilities here are a must: the weight. It incontestabelment a studio amp! Itinerant musicians who want to repeat often in different places and different go your way because the animal not less than 37 kg.
Overall, I use it with an Ibanez RG550EX with passive pickups. I reach out a gro overdrive sound. Coupled with a Crybaby From Hell and an Ernie Ball volume (a plug behind of course!), I'm very outgoing properly on the maiden, the AC-DC, Hammerfall and the Saxon. I like variety and I enjoy also sounds clear. This amp is more than enough for a rehearsal or a concert in a small room or a small bar ... But if you see more, it will Repik by the sound, it's 75W Hybrid 2 X 12 kan Similarly, no lamp 4X12. But all these details do not make negative rather not lose sight of that in terms of quality / price ratio, the peaks where we touch! I'm tough and uncompromising with this combo because I compare it to the head / MESA baffles, or other TSL 100 LANEY that cost 2 to 4 X more expensive ... But in this price range, do not try, you will not find better! AVT 275 will give you the clean sounds warm and good distortion well as it should. It's clean, it's solid, it's Marshall. The stereo is well designed (back panel closed unlike the old Valvestate). Clean finish, footswitch solid and visually rewarding. Many adjustments to make you "your" sound and connectivity options! Both of acoustics for the metal, I think it is fully revealed with a good mid-range guitar.

9 for the price / quality ratio. Sounds like a price like that, it's nice.

OVERALL OPINION

Finally: for small grants (I'm talking about ...), it is an investment portfolio appropriate. Marshall has always been a guarantee of reliability and quality. Well above the MG series and it's not so far from JCM, you'll get your money! Be careful though weight: put it in your room or your living room and do not move over. Or call Arnold! Pay special attention to digital effects. The quality is perfect, but if you're like, "I found my sound and I keep it" ok, if you rather, I hack and I juggle with different sounds on the same pieces to make Moby on stage, better is opting for a line 6 or a vox, and then add an external multi-effects series.
Overall, this is a very good product with good connections at back cover (for an external effect rack that can boust) and numerous settings in front to grind, and grind again, and its still a grind as far as being fully satisfied. Today, with hindsight, I do it again the same choice for all those long months where I learned to quietly play guitar at home, quietly in my room and when I recorded on my computer models with sound very clean. I really enjoyed myself with, I certainly took a great pleasure. The sound is then clear that both saturated. Sustain, presence, no complaints. But now that I joined a group and we'll do concerts, it's time for me to consider a more serious investment in two bodies and all lamp. But I am perfectly aware that my budget will triple!
