Ibanez RG370DXL

For a long time the best mid-range Ibanez RG you could buy was the RG470. They were made in Japan and reasonably priced. They made these models lefty too which is pretty rare. most guitar companies either only make their super low end guitars and super high end guitars in lefty, leaving a gap in the middle where they do not have any mid-ranged lefty guitars. Now that the 470 is discontinued all you can get now is the 370 left handed. The guitar is your basic RG. It has the basswood body in the superstrat RG style. 24 frets on a super flat Ibanez Wizard 2 neck. This guitar has the Wizard 2 neck which is slightly thicker than the normal Wizard neck. The neck has a rosewood fretboard with 24 jumbo frets on a super flat radius. It has the Edge 3 tremolo which is not the best Ibanez tremolo but it is better than most cheap Floyd Rose knock off's. The fretboard on this model has sharkfin inlays. It has the HSH pickup configuration with Ibanez pickups in all positions. There is a 5 way blade switch to switch between them in a strat style arrangement.

UTILIZATION

With the deep cutaways on the RG body it is very easy to reach all the frets on the neck. The fretboard is nice and flat with jumbo frets so it is easy to get a good action and the jumbo frets let you play easily. The neck is super thin so it is easy to handle if you have smaller hands. Like on all RG's the tuners are close together if you are use to a 6-6 style headstock configuration. Your fingers may hit the other tuners while you are tuning. The tremolo will stay in tune once it is setup or you can block it like any other tremolo. If you change tunings a lot you should block the tremolo and leave the nut unlocked. Changing tunings with a full floating locking tremolo setup takes a long time and can be frustrating.

SOUNDS

As always with a lower end Ibanez the pickups are the weak point. The tone from the stock pick ups are not great. The bridge position is pretty fuzzy and muddy and the neck position is not as smooth as I would like. The neck position is useable for smooth lead tones and blues and jazz but the bridge pickup is too weak for anything that uses a moderate amount of gain or more. It is a shame that most RG play so good but come with such bad pickups from the factory.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a pretty mediocre guitar but being lefty there are not many options. Guitar companies seem to forget the fact that there are intermediate lefty players too who want guitars better than beginner junk and cant afford custom priced pieces. The 470L model that Ibanez made before this was a lot better. Those were still made in Japan and the quality on them is a lot better than this guitar. I would recommend looking for a Japan made 470L before getting a 370L.

USE

The English Channel is pleasant yes, it's an Ibanez, very suitable to many fast game play ease in els last frets, I play a Gibson SG and I have to feel swim in the boxes at the beginning. It's just not an SG but the 24th box access is done without even thinking about it.
Compar SG seems to me that guitar heavy (thick body), but the weight is correct and the guitar is well balanced.
The volume knob is placed so that one uses when playing (even if mine needs a little lubrication if I want to handle the little finger at the same time I attack . (violoning what.)
Floyd type Vibrato is easy to use and well rponds, just a little bit slow though get back up, too bad. (9 a.)
It may be noted that the guitar sustain a fairly consquent when trying to tune it, (I say "try" because I dbute tuning with floyd.), In fact they do not forget to 'stifle the ropes before sounding the following as they ring for loongtemps. But let's see the sound ...

SONORITS

What made me buy this guitar is a need to play faster. The SG had its limits for acrobatic solo parts. (No floyd, thick neck, Gibson Pickups in plain punch but not ultra-precise). In short, the original pickups allow it sounded pretty good. The guitar is as versatile as what your amp, We do not play with the volume buttons to move clear saturated because the output level of the microphone is too consquent has still saturated. (Otherwise I would not recommend leaving the bottom volume).
When we play the high notes sound retains its thickness which is a good point.
The sound is powerful and balanced was just missing some mediums (but my ear is perhaps too accustomed SG).
With this output level no problem for metal. The precision is not at the top, but sufficient to make good rhythm parts in that style.
I am rather Rock / Glam / Heavy and also quite sure, but do not give much feelings (lack of personality)
I tested with a Vox Tonelab SE, and I tried a lot of presets. I use it mostly with modern high-gain sounds. arpond well but sorely lacking in personality.
I have not tried on my tube amp that is in rehearsal room. But for the moment appears to me as a good solo guitar. I have a Dimarzio PAF Pro and Fred just waiting to replace both Hambuckers of this guitar. I long to see what was going to give.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I've had a few days.
I like its ergonomics, its handle.
I've tried a few, but mostly in the same range (and our day not bcp choice left Ibanez.), That is what I decided.
The price quality ratio is excellent. The pickups are average but when even allow good s'clater, The floyd and finish are of good quality 430 it's really a good plan.
I soon moved to more than 200 Dimarzio pickups, I tried the same guitar with good quality microphones and has become a really good deal, a formidable weapon.

UTILIZATION

I have this guitar for 2 weeks and I confess to have great fun playing on this instrument. The handle is very comfortable even me who has all pudgy fingers p'tits p'tits. In addition to shark teeth inlays make the look and feel without guitarist kiss version Philharmonic ... As against the 24 cases are confusing and we lost a little early to find its bearings. The fine is pretty well balanced and comfortable to wear but hey, since I'm not in a rod tube ballpoint pen I support his weight as well as that of my age ... Access to treble is rather easy, despite infirmity digital me (see above ...).

SOUNDS

The beast is plugged into a Roland cube 15 watt than enough to produce a sound to unclog cages honey and make my wife scream and cats .... But for connoisseurs is very respectable, although this tool is run entirely for his good fat (like me ...) and sounds crystal clear and simply return to their Fender because there Gentlemen Lady ... it's heavy and clumsy though sometimes I think microphones are a bit rough (.... euhhh maybe my game is what draft).
Good on the other hand I plugged a zoom 7010 and a V-Wah pedal and then I ring my friends as VAI, PETRUCCI and like me ... and what really is the foot harmonics are easy to obtain and no problemo for Tapping.
All-mechanical vibrato is great you can shoot the damn whammy bar without the strings do go awry all the time. So fans of Vai, Van Halen and company go to donf (IE ... that's how 'talk the young?). As I have said against Claptoniens, buckleyi do not insist I tell you .... It is not for you!
The micro side handle is fine when I connected directly to the amp to sound like the cream over a Guinness in a pub in the depths of Ireland and when I process the sound with my zoom I prefer the micro an easel next to its steel like a sword of Toledo (... see the movie "Highlander"). The middle one ... .. good uh is a compromise between the two in which a stamp a little different ... blah ... ouaif

OVERALL OPINION

As mentioned above this is two weeks that I'm on to the Neil ZAZA toil all day and I can not get enough.
I played before on a different model IBANEZ SA and the difference is large even if it is less versatile than my little first.
The violin is completely different even though it is unfortunate some kinks to finish with file strokes nuisance but very good Cameron Diaz to buttons on the pif ... ... ... ehhh
Well after gallery for a few months to find the "weapon" sister on the internet I find that the price difference between the left and right handed model is exaggerated so it's not a good quality / price ratio, but what do you good people, poor flaws we noted in the bone and that's it .... !
Okay it is more expensive than the GAL AML and less than 100 Jackson DKL2 so I think it's a good solution to buy a good guitar for metal willing to pay 3000 bales (460 Euros for ... kids ...) and that the shame and the chance like me to have parents who have left us ... .... but beautiful and intelligent ... .. ....
I would do so this purchase on the condition sine qua non to try the small LAG AML100 first just to see if it competes. Anyway, my next investment will be microphones to address better the beautiful bodies for the song (Di Marzio, Seymour Duncan or EMG hesitate ...).

UTILIZATION

The handle is trs enjoyable, fine, worthy of Ibanez.
Access in acute is also relatively simple, Grand Rapids of the handle end
I find enough balance, despite a body a little heavier but it is not trs SNET, the shape is rather ordinary but in my taste.
the sound is not really the certe is enough but not too much I think my taste has changed the pickups (EMG active or passive, or Seymour Duncan)
So I put 8 / 10 because of a micro

SOUNDS

It should trs well to my style of play (drop d), I play slipknot (even if they play in drop b I get a catch up thanks to the effects Difference)
I use as a Marshall Valvestate VS100 amp and effect as an ibanez SM7 and a multi purpose Behringer V amp. j'obtient galemet serious as easily a micro environmental con trs pretty clear, neat and clean (despite the microphones).
I think with a small modification of the microphones it has nothing to envy to others esp guitar like lag (Arkan) and Jackson.

OVERALL OPINION

I recently 370dxl my Ibanez (3 months) but I tried Mint and mint times before buying.
What I love about this guitar is the pop-called "shark teeth" and gnralement love this kind of guitar I tried in the same register and the jackson dk2 arkane 100 but my heart chose the Ibanez.
One can also see that his vibrato is jsuqu'a the extreme (it is easy to break the first string lol).
the price quality ratio is excellent, DFI one who finds a better quality for 400 on a new guitar!
Certe over time I think I would do the same choice in the taking up or else with more money I would take surment, always with Ibanez, the rg 1570 or 2550 but I missed the pop "shark teeth".
