« Orville Les Paul »

Published on 04/23/04 at 15:00
I bought my Orville on Ebay from a seller in Japan. It cost me 620 US dollars and way spipped to me straight away and arrived at my home in Australia in 3 days, amazing!!!

First of all, these guitars are just like Gibsons, i had a friend of mine who knows Gibsons well take a good look at it, and he told me it was exactly the same as a US made Gibson , except, the Orville had the much sought after 'long neck tenon' ,this is where the neck joins the body, the tenon extends into the front pickup cavity to create a huge tone and lots of sustain.

The pickups on mine were US made Gibsons, i dont like them and will be getting a seymour duncan JB4 for the bride, the neck pick up is fine , not to muddy, of course pick ups are a matter of taste, many will like the standard Orville pick up fine.

I have many guitars, the Orvilles i have amaze me in the quality of construction and attention to fit and finish. Orvilles have the long neck tenon, the same as the historic, custom shop les pauls. This is the same methord of neck joint as used in the constuction of the celebrated 57-60 model les pauls that now are some of the most sought after and expensive guitars ever made...enough said!!!

Gibson now make guitars as good as any they have ever made, thats my opinion, i belive the guitars made now are even better than the classic 1957-1960 model les pauls, but for those who play night after night and cant afford a Gibbo, get one of these while you still can, i bought five, they are all amazing guitars and they are getting hard to get even in Japan, if one does appear in a shop over there they are snapped up, Ebay sellers are finding it very hard to keep up supply, prices have gone up, if you want one dont wait, thats my addvice....
