«  The power amp almost perfect »

Published on 09/23/12 at 00:54
This is a power amplifier transistor. It has two channels. Its main difference with others is to use output transformers to isolate the electronics enclosure. It is the same principle as for assemblies based lamps. It has an impedance selector (2 - 4 - 8 ohms stereo and 4 - 8 - 16 ohms bridged in).
Level there are 2 connectors 6,35 mm jack Input: left / mono and right. With regard to output one finds the two input channels plus the bridge in jack and speakon.
It also has a switch for land and another for stereo or bridged.

At this size is 19 "rack 2 units of 42 cm. The weight is 21 kg.

UTILIZATION

The implementation is simple, nothing too complicated. It connects the output of the preamp input and presto!
The manual is very complete and covers the full range Jonas Hellborg Signature (preamp + amp + speakers). We have the right to block diagrams of each element as well as combinations of amp / speaker possible.

SOUNDS

The main feature of the amp is its neutrality. It covers the entire extended spectrum evenly. There is also a purr typical mounting tube: it is fat and punchy in the low end while maintaining clarity elsewhere.

Under illustration I have a preamp such as "70's" and all the mojo lamps and passive EQ spring fully. I like playing on a stack tube.

OVERALL OPINION

It is now a little over 2 years I use and I do not regret my purchase. I get sound out of my amp but harder with all potato necessary.

The only time the 250 W were too tight on stage was average (300 - 400) on which I had to ask in the low returns: my Markbass 2x10 was a fair bit! A 4x10 with a passage 500 W bridged would have surely allowed to have more projection.

Most: the sound offered, look (brushed aluminum), the impedance adjustable both channels.
Cons: weight, you can not adjust the impedance independently for both channels.
