MusikMesse '08 marks the European launch of Fret-King®, the guitar and bass brand elaborated by guitar Guru Trev Wilkinson - the very man behind the Wilkinson tremolo.

The line-up of Fret-King guitars and basses will number over 170 individual options and be available in two categories: Green Label series guitars and basses are hand-built in Wilkinson’s UK workshops located in Southport, Lancashire, while Blue Label mid-price Fret-King series guitars are to be produced in a low volume, luthier-built environment, bringing the Fret-King ethic of guitar design to a much wider audience.

In the Green Label series, the Esprit V is made out of korina, a wood which grain structure is similar in nature to mahogany, but lighter and more vibrant. With a traditional three-piece 4” centre-section body, 2 degree neck rake, 22 fret, 25 1/2 “scale one-piece set-neck with 12” radius rosewood fingerboard, and 8 degree angled back reversed six-in-line peghead, the Esprit V was designed for optimised tonal transfer and natural tone.

Equipped with twin Fret-King custom wound PAF-style humbuckers, this guitar has a combination of 3-way toggle, master volume, master tone, and the Wilkinson ‘Vari-coil™’ control which rolls full humbuckers down to true single coils, with all the sounds in-between, providing a massive range of very useable sounds.
