Value For Money : Excellent
Overall, this is a box of digital effects that can influence the frequency response in dynamic sound passing through it.

The technology used is mainly digital, that the sound is converted to digital input, except to get in already digitized format (SPDIF or AES / BU) and is converted to analog output (except out in digital format change).

Principally engaged in a 31-band graphic equalizer, plus a variety of EQ, compression.

For the rest I refer to the product documentation available on the Behringer website: http://www.behringer.com/FR/Products/DEQ2496.aspx

UTILIZATION

I use it for several functions:

1) I go out of my SPDIF format and send console 01V96VCM modulation "Main" in DEQ2496 if necessary to treat the sound broadcast room.

2) I use the digital output AES / BU to transmit sound to another box facade "cousin", ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496. This allows me to keep the signal in digital format as long as possible without breaking the chain.

3) I use the DEQ2496 to equalize the sound room using the automatic search function of the resonance frequencies.

The manual is quite clear and the use of the DEQ2496 is relatively easy in general, provided to give a bit of trouble to capture the main features.

SOUND QUALITY

It is always difficult to say if the system interferes with the signal quality product output console as much as I do not use the A / D input, or the D / A output.

A tip on this subject: we do not overstate the harm can be done by subjecting a signal of the different A / D and D / A in the processing path. I read an article in "Sono magazine" I believe a recent study that shows these adverse effects.

For my part, I send my broadcast signal, output D / A conversion of my SPC2496 (connected to my DEQ2496), to a NEXO LS400 NXAMP4X1C + + PS10A and everything sounds correctly in my ears.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, this is a nice little fun and cheap equipment that can process sound in a satisfactory manner for personal or semi-professional.

I like the function of automatic equalization of the spectrum of frequency response of the room used. This is a function that always made me dream when I was reading the articles on material Altec Lansing (to the great age of 70 years. The old like me will understand!).
Behringer has implemented it in its case for a highly competitive price and I recommend it.

In the end, this unit has a very good quality / price ratio and I do it again the choice of purchase if necessary.
