How come I never talked to you about the Sonic Visualiser? Well it’s just been updated to v2.4, so it’s now or never!

The Sonic Visualiser is a standalone software for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux that allows you to visualize the depths of any WAV, Ogg Vorbis or MP3 audio file. It displays both the waveform and spectrum and gives you access to loads of useful features: you can add annotations, define segments, curves, change the playback speed, export audio regions with their annotations to new audio files, import MIDI note data and play them with the original audio, import text files, and more. You have everything here to check your mixes.

Sonic Visualiser is completed with analyzer plug-ins that must be downloaded separately (but for free) and you can use LADSPA and DSSI effect plug-ins.

The very useful utility is distributed under GNU licence and has been developed at the Center for Digital Music of Queen Mary, University of London, UK.

You can download it and its plug-ins at www.sonicvisualiser.org

Have a great weekend!
