«  Vox amPlug Metal: high gain of quality portable! »

The amPlug Metal is a mobile analog preamp that plug directly into your guitar. It has a headphone jack, and a line input for playing your favorite backing tracks.

This mini pocket amp is made in Japan, which is not visible when you see the quality of cheap plastic that composes it.

UTILIZATION

The general configuration is ultra-simple: three knobs (volume, tone, gain), plug the guitar (attention jacks shell adapter jack-jack female socket required) and headphones and play!

The manual? What manual? I did not read, loss of time ^ ^.

It is easily distorted sounds good, as long as we do not rule Amplug like an idiot (gain and tone donf example ...).

SOUND QUALITY

The sounds produced are all in the high gain distortion bass register, or to limit big crunch.

I used the Amplug with guitars and stuff (the Vigier Excalibur Indus, the Teisco Spectrocaster lipstick), and various headphones (Sennheiser HD500, Sennheiser HD438, AKG K240S ...).
The choice of headphones will obviously get a good role for her, and I got the best results with the AKG K240S.

The sounds were obviously my favorite high gain modern distortion.
I regret the lack of clean, or clean channel base, but hey, at this price ...

OVERALL OPINION

I had in my possession this mini-amp pocket, from 2008 to 2013, and I've always been hyper-satisfied.
This model is the version Metal Amplug ... no doubt: it sounds great in all registers large distortion. Sounds obtained are clearly the best I could test in the vein of material Dual Rectifier "mobile", and the knobs are very effective.
Obviously, it is impossible to get cleans, but lowering the volume of the guitar, it is possible to gently cruncher (within limits, of course).

I used this Amplug with all my guitars, and the jack Excalibur shell, I used an instrument cable jack + jack adapter female / female jack Planet Waves.

The auxiliary line is very well thought out, although I used very little: I was thinking the Amplug as a hardware plug & play, play rapido, between two doors ... then connect another device to play over the backing tracks, it was not possible too (what lazy).

The only criticism I can make is full plastic construction a bit fragile. I dropped my Amplug a height of 1m, and the on / off switch was broken, remaining in position on ... (Okay, I returned the battery to turn off / on)

In conclusion: that happiness for that little pocket amp made in Japan. For 40 €, it was a really good investment.

I reluctantly sold to finance a Zoom G3X, much more expensive, but more versatile. Note that the Amplug Metal distos remain a bit above those of the G3X, but really a bit ^ ^.
