Discovered on my snare drum ...

OVERALL OPINION

... On the occasion of a model made by a friend of his career a few years ago.
I found this mic and use a little unusual on the Snare.
In my case, I had a steel snare drum and a snare drum made of wood, with a set mostly rock but also brushes. It allowed to dispense with a micro stamp (reduced number of entries to the console).
I was convinced by its build quality, its ability to absorb the high levels, sensitivity (which is an electret .. brings out all the nuances of our box, I did not make as many "pains" laughs ). I call your rimshot, and you finally find the sound of your snare to the replay!

For the value, to a few dollars it will cost you almost the price of two SM57 ... Personally, two microphones = twice the work. Not that I'm lazy at the console, but the forest of foot cable, phase reversal, etc. ... why complicate things when you can make it simple?

I remake that choice again! I am so positive because after this discovery, I continued a few years with the SM57 traditional (for the sound but blah mat), 421 (expensive), BF 812 (sensitive to sounds in the distance) before going to solve a adopt the 535. I am continuing my experiences with other microphones whenever possible but the snare is the standard drum kit and deserves this delicate attention ;-).
