Microphone preamplifier, API 500 format
instrument input (DI)
with phantom power, pad of 30 dB, phase, choice of input impedance 200 ohms or 1200
input and output transformers CARHNILL,
it smells of small production, but the sound is there.

UTILIZATION

Schematic of the Neve 1081, a gain entrance notched a trim of output!

SOUND QUALITY

Fabulous as the Neve 1073 and 1081, the sound is musical time, the AEC transformers carhnill the sound is still soft, lightly compacted with a serious and low mid superb, a little less fat than the 1073, I find M581 absolutely perfect for virtually any source.
I had enough honor pre amp type MPE200 Summit, amek DMCL, Universal Audio, API, Focusrite ISA 430 ... etc. and frankly, this little pre amp all the breaks, it's always beautiful, the sound is full, immediately in the mix with no or very few treatment options. a voice, the central image is impeccable, and no drooling or rikiki evah, requiring the presence of EQ and some compression, nothing!
a good microphone, a good singer and the voice is there, full face, never vulgar, I love!

OVERALL OPINION

I bought 2 from Mercenary Audio, I have income less than 800 euros each with taxes and port, and at this price point is carément a great deal!

Why this module is not distributed in France ????????
especially given the number of "crap to sell at any price!" put forward by some retailers!

even live, I take them with me in a rack unit housings in the A-Design 500hrs, and a 58 live, it's really one of those I prefer, the inverse of an API 512! (And it is not nice)
My overall rating for this product is 12 out of 10
