Digigram is unveiling Cancun, a new range of mobile USB sound cards designed for on-the-go audio professionals and reporters.

The first two models in the series are the Cancun 442-Mic and Cancun 222-Mic, a 4-in/4-out and a 2-in/2-out respectively, simultaneous analog + AES I/O device. Both are built offering 2×500 MIPS dual-core processing power.

A mic preamp, an analog level of +24 dBu max and low latency of under 3ms are some of the features. The design also incorporates a touch panel with LED lights beneath the surface as well as the required connectivity such as a Neutrik XLR plug for professional microphones.

In addition to the hardware design, a companion software application presents the user with the relevant information regarding the sound card (gain values, driver setup, current state, VU meters, locks, etc.).

Key features

  • Simultaneous analog & AES I/Os in a compact form factor
  • MIC preamp (55dB gain, 100 dB THD+N, –126 dB EIN)
  • Analog level of +24 dBu max
  • Low latency (3 ms) on Windows and Mac OSX platforms
  • Setup and monitoring on both Windows and Mac OSX platforms
  • Hardware controls with LED-lighted touch panel
  • Neutrik XLR connectivity and break-out cables

Availability:

The sound card will be available by the end of the year and will be on general release by early 2012.
