« Surprisingly good guitar amp mic »

I have had an Audix D4 mic for a couple of years and have mainly used it on floor tom and percussion and bass cabinets. I had a guitar player in the studio a few months ago who wanted to try a kick drum mic on his guitar amp. So I thought ummm, let's try this D4, what a surprise it sounded fantastic. Thought it may have been a one off situation so I have since tried it on guitar a few more times and it always sounds great. I have set it up with SM7B and tried it against a SM57 and a few other common guitar mics for comparison and I have and have generally preferred the D4 capture.
