«  A map really excelente »

Published on 08/14/11 at 15:48
The preamps and firewire connections and reviews on Audiofanzine. I had an M-Audio card I remember the name. But the pre amp was really quite rotten. And I wanted to get into a sound card of very good quality. And I found the RME 400

UTILIZATION

The drivers were really stable on Windows XP. Really no problem. I used Ableton Live and Reason in ReWire master. Really impeccable, nothing to say. After I started on Windows 7. And, in that the card was launched. A screenshot blue wicked crash. Incompatibility thoroughly. But though I tried formatting the RME updates, nothing to do ... After, it can be had from my pc (component allowing access Fireware not very compatible with the windows). Then I tested on OS X (hackintosh as too expensive for my means) and there really great. Mixer design is different and more accessible than on Windows. Since I work on Mac.

The recording of tracks depends on the software. So with Live, I could simultaneously record all entries in the map. And not move a brown card. And the latency is really more than correct. After for less than the atence the buffer is important. So be sure to have a PC or a Mac running well.

GETTING STARTED

Installation is really easy. Installation of drivers. Small formatting on the operation of the card and Hop. It's part of it. But this card is so complete that if you want to go into the depths, the functions, it starts sending wholesale.

After, it must be said, the doc is too complex. A kiki is really starting to understand anything on this doc (at least, not at all), the doc speaks of electronics, software mixing and other functions. But with time and learning the sound, it helps a lot.

OVERALL OPINION

it's been 5 years. And really I am very very happy with this card. I admit it is expensive. But it's solid.

When used at the bottom and at the end you touch the card, it is boiling. But it's like the new mac pro. All the structure is made to the components cool without ventilation (for the cons have a mac ventillo). So do not worry. If the shell is hot.

Anyway. It is resistant card.
When RME is a map, it's not for 2 years after she died, defective.

The price matches the quality.
RME thank you
