6 band equalizer. Jack in, jack out and taken to the 9v power supply ... So what classic.
Robust pedal and metal, all good.

UTILIZATION

No manual (memory) but at the same time I do not see how it would servi.La configuration is extremely simple and the EQ is quality. Only downside, the lack of volume ... The boss competitor offers the same price EQ roughly equivalent (except perhaps in the upper midrange), but with a volume knob greatly facilitating scultage sound.

SOUND QUALITY

The effect is effective and "natural". Pedal meets each frequency range and is true bypass.

OVERALL OPINION

For 6 months. Bought new € 70, I'm not disappointed with my purchase while I hesitated with the Boss. Although the volume knob I miss a little pedal is effective and to achieve really interresting EQ.

UTILIZATION

Very simple settings, everyone knows how this type of pedal.
Manuel minimalist but useless.

SOUND QUALITY

As always with MXR, this pedal has a charming personality. EQ are many and I have not heard two that sound identical. Nothing out of the ordinary for this since the frequencies on which to intervene differ from one brand to another or, at least, are calibrated differently. This is the world of pedals like the amplifiers, with settings more or less effective, progressive and transparent. The small MXR suits me perfectly and I find not only effective and versatile but thought regarding the frequencies on which it acts. 6 strips are sufficient for me and allow so many settings I've never felt the need for more. For a 6-string guitar, in any case, I do not see the point.
The sound quality is there, provided mas-what more natural - to avoid extreme upper positions. As in the treble, it inevitably brings breath and low loss of definition and firmness. I use this pedal mostly in the loop of my Blackstar head in his clear, not be limited by the lack of tone controls (clear channel with a single knob "Tone"). 6 Bands EQ This also allows me to shine my head Marshall Class 5 that at low volume sounds a bit dull. Except to seek a radical tone, I do not use it with my Hot Rod Deluxe.

OVERALL OPINION

I have this effect for a little over two years and enjoy it. It allows real corrections without coloring the sound base. Moreover, this transparency is a high quality and brand personality. If I had to emphasize a particular point, I would say it is particularly comfortable for everything related to the frequencies of mediums. Unlike other models, the act of raising the level of these frequencies with the MXR never gives a negatively colored or unbalanced result.
A pedal correction can sometimes be useful and often required!

Result: 9/10
Small, solid, faders are not too "hard" or too "loose" and are visible via a handy LED system. In contrast, the power plug is on the side, which I find a little pain in the neck.

UTILIZATION

Result: 8/10
Easy to hand. The classic that has nothing confusing. However, it sorely lacks a level setting feature, which is not technically complex to implement and would not create an overhead if so.

SOUND QUALITY

# The effects are they effective, responsive and realistic enough?
The MXR 109 is very effective, whether facade, or in the loop of a preamp, in clear sound or distorted sounds. No particular breath, and the bypass is very transparent.
# Which instruments do you use?
Mainly with a guitar, sometimes bass. In both cases, this pedal does its job.
# Which ones you prefer, you hate?
I use it to boost the mids. In contrast, for a typical use auto-wah (boosts of a single frequency, all the others being at least) or Lo-Fi, I found the Boss GE-7 more efficiently.

The sound is equalized, but it is not distorted, this is exactly what is expected of an equalizer.

+ + I like the plug & play, the side Pedalboard friendly, practical and visual LEDs.
- I do not like the power jack on the side, the absence of a global volume setting.

I had a GE-7 Boss in which, apart from the system LEDs, gave me a better memory.
# How would you rate quality / price ratio?
Very correct. For the same price, I would rather a GE-7 used because it has a bunch more in the acute setting and volume.

Although this is a great product, no.

UTILIZATION

Configuration is very simple, each band is assigned to the frequency and gives a boost or cut of 18dB. Bands lit when the pedal is engaged allow a look to see its settings.
We regret the absence of a band volume (found on most EQ pedals) which requires more time to tweak its settings.

SOUND QUALITY

The EQ is very good job and we have plenty of opportunities to do all that we expect from a EQ (Boost neutral treble and volume boost for solo, etc ...), it not distort the sound, not the poc engagement in short, everything which rolls!
The pedal is used with a guitar (the frequency range covered by the six bands is too low to be effective on bass or keyboard).

OVERALL OPINION

I used 2 months, the only EQ pedal size I had (with MarkBass Super Booster which has filters or EQ but can not really bring too).
I love the look and sound LED strips downright cool! I do not like the placement of the input power supply (a misnomer, as all MXR, but this is the ponpon I crossed) while the original placement of the input and output jack was fun. I love the fact that it makes a good job, I do not like the lack of an overall band for the volume. I do not like the fact that it is not True Bypass.
The price / quality ratio is good without being exceptional, if I had to get an EQ I think I would take a more comprehensive and larger (M-108 seems to me to be all that's missing in this one with even a band gain entry!).

The M-109 is a 6 band graphic EQ pedal from MXR. The pedal has 6 sliders that can cut or boost that frequency by 18dB. The bands available are 100, 200, 400, 800 1.6k, and 3.2k.The pedal can be powered by 9 volt batter or external AC adapter. Dimensions of the pedal are 2.5" x 5.5" x 4.5" and it weighs about a pound. A mono input and a mono output are available.

UTILIZATION

This pedal is built extremely well like most MXR pedals. The housing is made of all metal and the bypass switch is very rugged. It has “positive feel” sliders that hold the settings very well, even if bumped, and are illuminated so the settings can be read on a dark stage during a gig. I wish they had included an overall volume slider like the Boss GE-7, but I don’t really miss the added high end frequency slider.

SOUND QUALITY

The M109 is what I use to get a muffled low fi tone in my rig, but it can do just about anything you need it to. It will remove quack from a mid heavy guitar, unmuffle the distortion in an amp, or boost a solo just to name a few. It lets you craft your sound to the exact frequencies you hear in your head. It works very well in the loop of amps to help shape the overall tone or as an overall signal boost if you run through a lot of pedals. The pedal makes a great solo boost because you can boost the frequencies that really let your guitar cut through a dense mix and stand out like a solo should. There is no change in my tone when using this pedal and there isn’t an annoying hiss like there is when using a Boss GE-7.

OVERALL OPINION

I like this EQ pedal a lot. I really thought that extra frequency slider would be missed, but I really just miss the volume slider I had on my previous 7 band EQs (Dano and Boss). This pedal is built for touring, so I don’t worry about reliability. The lighted sliders are great at gigs and the switch feels really solid with a nice click when you engage the pedal. It’s nice and small so it doesn’t take up much space on my board. Whether I need a solo boost, an EQ adjustment, match input signals on different guitars, or a Lo Fi tone like I usually use it for, it’s always there for me. Steer clear of the Boss and go for the MXR

UTILIZATION

Beautifully simple to use. This is the little brother of the MXR 10 band, and is actually an improvement in some ways. To be honest, for a live EQ pedal, all you really need is 6 bands. This gives you the control you need without the extras. The compact enclosure is a lot easier to fit on a pedalboard, and the standard 9v power is much more convenient.

Run it in front of the amp as a guitar EQ or boost, run it in the amp effects loop as a third channel EQ. Very low noise, reliable, sturdy, and powerful. It can totally pull the blanket off of your setup.

I've found that the LED sliders on these can start to dim over time which is a little annoying. Otherwise they are great for a dark stage, and just look cool.

This one doesn't have volume/gain sliders, so if that is something you want out of it, I'd look into the 10 band.

SOUND QUALITY

Its difficult to judge the sound of an EQ pedal independently, but this one is really great. Dead silent, which can be unusual in this price range, and can really transform your sound. Six bands is really all you need to fine tune your tone, anything from a mild boost to a total revision or third channel.



OVERALL OPINION

This is, without a doubt, a killer little EQ pedal. Don't let its size fool you, it will probably become the most powerful tool in your arsenal. That said, EQ is probably the most overused/misused pedal among guitarists. I've seen a lot of people pick one of these up because "I might as well, everyone needs one." If you actually feel that your setup could benefit from some fine tuning, this is a great option. It also works really well as a boost, and can clean up some mediocre DIST pedals like the Boss MT2. I'd also recommend looking into a parametric EQ, they aren't quite as widely used but can be a very solid option.
