Value For Money :
Excellent
1) The VC 15110 is:
- An amp all-tube Class A / B, equipped 3x12AX7 preamp and power 2xEL84
- 2 channels (bright and saturated)
- A power of 15W to 14kilos! Which IMHO is more than enough to rehearse and play concerts in bars. If you consider the greatest scenes, it will be essential to the transplant and / or hook up an external firm for better projection.
- 1 HP 10-inch Jensen.
2) For connectors, from left to right:
- 2 inputs: HIGH who brings more gain and LOW (softer sound)
- 1 volume knob for the clean channel
- 1 BRIGHT switch that works on top mediums
- 1 DRIVE button to manage the channel gain saturated and a volume knob.
- The switch to switch from one channel to the other
- A 3-band EQ (bass, middle, treble) common to both channels
- A reverb
- A TONE button is a button on the presence of other brands.
3) Back:
- Effect loop
- An output for an external firm
- Footswitch input (not supplied)
As you can see, it has everything a great! Ideal to play at home because it is very civilized amp. Even at low volume the sound is good. The only downside in my opinion, the size of HP. At high volume there is a slight loss of bass.
UTILIZATION
The manual has some settings that allow you to familiarize with the beast. The best is still to connect and search ... a bit! The grip is very simple. I would say natural.
SOUNDS
At her, everything will depend on what you are going to connect it.
Laney amps are famous for their clear sound, somewhere between Fender (too garish for my taste) and Vox (too colorful). Attention, it is not neutral as far as the Peavey Classic 30.
1) Clear Sound
They are round, creamy, full and warm. Whether with single coils or humbuckers, the amp responds to all the game variations of the right hand. With the volume to 4 simply attack a little more frankly the ropes to feel that little natural distortion.
Depending on the guitar you have browsed between Dire Straits and Geoges Benson. This still leaves a wide range of styles to express themselves.
2) Sound saturated
It has only the name! Fans of psycho-trash-core, go your way! This amp is deliberately aimed vintage. No big distortion taking off wallpaper. Let's talk about big crunch blues-rock genre 70s. Here, the VC 15 is at home.
3) The effects
Note that cash well the pedals of all kinds, and most importantly, it restores the sound! Above I tested a Fulltone OCD, Mi Audio Tubezone, Benrod RedFuzz and Screamer Classic, Clean Boost, plus all modulations (chorus, flange, phaser, wah, Univibe, delay). Well, everything goes! For some it takes time to find the right settings.
This amp deserves pedals if you want good quality look good.
OVERALL OPINION
I hesitated with the Fender Blues Junior. What a disappointment! Cold, no personality, no adjustments compared to VC 15 for a price much higher.
I bought my VC 15 247 in England at the time DV or pound sterling was low. I paid € 260 with the FDP! Unbeatable!
The +:
- Very good quality / price ratio
- Ample power (15W) for a ridiculous weight (14 kgs)
- Low profile
- Very well equipped
- Sound! Clear that both saturated
The -:
- The size of HP, 10 "I remember.
In the end, this is a very good tube amp that can do many things. I remake that choice without hesitation if Mr. Laney decided to include an HP 12 "... but then I quibble.
Ideal companion for the home game, the répétitons and small scenes.
I regretted it soon after sold! I also stayed at Laney TT20 with a head. But this is another story. To be continued ...
