I have two years now, and I tried a mix session with a 770 and this one 5 years ago.
The memory was so tenacious that I needed one!

I tried the Sony MDR notament often cited as a reference ... but honestly I do not understand why.
This headphone meets one would expect from a studio headphone: stereo impressive, extended frequency response, a little round in the bass it is true, but it falls down, and it does really. Very good dynamic and fun ride listening.

It completes me a pair of Adam S1A ... I can essentially control the bass level, stereo balance, the fine details of reverbs ... and not bother anyone if I want to work late.
Indeed, despite my efforts to treat the room with diffuser and rock wool, sometimes I have a heavy hand on the grave, this headset gives me the second opinion I need.

Another advantage: when I accept someone you can communicate without having to remove the headphone all the time, it is open, and I think it's practical.

The headphone seems to me affordable, it is even doubtful at first! The only downside I have for a year the appearance of a loose connection from time to time.

I mixed the klezmer, metal, rock, slam, electro ... I do not see how it should best suited for some style ... probably a matter of taste.
So the choice I would do without hesitation, I have not heard better at that price.

I use it since 2009. I tested several headphones before I decide. I hesitated with the DT770 pro, but I chose it because I wanted a headphone that does not attack me as I did with my AKG K270 is too closed to mix.

What I like most is that the DT990 is very open and not aggressive. Sometimes I think I left my speakers turned on so I feel that the sound comes from outside.

Well ... Just awesome! Its a very linear, very clear, very clean ... No matter what style of music.

As for the bass for fans of Electro-House, Drum'n'Bass, Dubstep, etc.. like me, do not worry, they are not developed, but these are well!

- It's not really a minus, but the fact that this headphone is opened, low volume all external sounds are perceived. But fans can rest assured decibels when the volume is pushed up, it becomes difficult to hear something.
- As a result, these headphones are not made for planners glued to their iPods and other players, because that headphone may be uncomfortable for people quickly around you, the music you hear is easily audible to your neighbors subway, bus or whatever, classmates.

I have this headphone for 4 years now so I think I can give a clear and honest.
It is simply PERFECT! I use it for production, mix, games, movies and fun ... And so far nothing has disappointed me.
We hear everything very clearly, and without modification (or very very very slightly).
Moreover, once the head is no longer felt the weight of the headphone. (I use 4 / 5 hours non-stop daily)
The foam has lost its sheen after 4 years, but it is always nice and the headphones seem almost new (and yet he lived)

Honestly, I wanted to buy something at a time because I expected to find even better. But even in the high ranges above, this headset is easily distinguished.

A choice I referrer should he one day messing around, but given the robustness of the thing, I think I still have for 4 / 5 years with!

I'm very satisfied.
Consistent and well balanced response. It's not linear, the low and high-end are a bit emphasized. But the sound is very natural and consistent without any cut or boost. Once you know how it sounds, you'll have no problems. It's very important.
Good stereo imaging with a lot of "air".
The dynamic response is faithful.
What about transient response? These headphones showed me what transients are. It's very impressive and it enhance the stereo imaging. When punch is needed, you get punch.

The first time I used it, I wanted to send it back because I found the sound awful... After one day of use, the sound became amazing... It had to be run in...

My mixes became much better... I hardly use my HS80 anymore...

The headphones are very comfortable.

Sound description after listening to some CDs:
Very good reproduction of acoustic and electric basses: smooth, precise, controlled. Kick drum and bass are clearly separated. (with good recordings)
Electric guitars get good transients. (vintage guitars sound amazing with a lot of warmth). The headphones reproduce the warmth of the recordings.
The low-end of a church organ seems to be a bit too emphasized.
Very good for classical music. The noise of older recordings is not disturbing at all and it's no hinder to extract details (which are very well reproduced). Very good dynamic response and sound precision.
"Real" stereo recordings are very well reproduced.
Electronic music gets very tight lows.
For the first time ever, I could hear the difference between a 320kb/s MP3 and the original file in CD format. I made the experience as a blind test! I recognized the MP3 file through its transient response...

So, yes, I would buy it again... Maybe I would buy closed headphones as a complement...
